Dallas Mavericks (35-18) at New Orleans Hornets (36-15), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The new-look Dallas Mavericks visit the Southwest Division- leading New Orleans Hornets tonight at New Orleans Arena.

On Tuesday, All-Star point guard Jason Kidd was finally traded by the Nets to Dallas. The Mavericks dealt point guard Devin Harris, Maurice Ager, Trenton Hassell, center DeSagana Diop, Keith Van Horn, first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010, and roughly $3 million to New Jersey in exchange for Kidd, and forwards Malik Allen and Antoine Wright.

Selected to his ninth All-Star Game this season, Kidd, who turns 35 on March 23rd, is averaging 11.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 10.4 assists in 51 games. He has recorded 12 triple-doubles this season, and 99 in his regular-season career. Kidd's contract this year is for $19.7 million, and he's due to make $21.37 million next year, the final season of his current deal.

Dallas, which plays its first game since the All-Star break, continues a four- game road trip. The Mavericks lost the opener of the swing to the Phoenix Suns, 109-97, on February 14th at US Airways Center.

Reigning MVP Dirk Nowitzki is having an excellent season for the Mavericks. He leads the team in scoring (22.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.8 rpg). He is shooting 46.9 percent from the floor, including 29.1 percent from beyond the arc.

The Mavericks, who have dropped three in a row as the guest, are 12-15 on the road this season. They will visit Memphis on Friday and Minnesota on Sunday in the finale of the current swing

New Orleans won four in a row prior to the All-Star break, and will play its first game since February 13th.

Chris Paul and David West were reserves on the Western Conference squad for Sunday's All-Star Game, which was played at New Orleans Arena. Paul leads the Hornets in scoring (20.5 ppg) and assists (10.9 apg), while West is averaging 19.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game this season.

Center Tyson Chandler, who is averaging 12.1 points per contest, leads the Hornets rebounding (12.5 rpg).

The Hornets are 17-8 at home this season. They will host Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets on Friday at New Orleans Arena.

This is the third meeting of the campaign between the Mavericks and Hornets. The teams split the first two contests.

The Hornets snapped a 10-game series home losing streak on December 1, 2007.

Dallas will host the Hornets on April 16th at American Airlines Center.
