(Sports Network) - The Portland Trail Blazers attempt to put the brakes on a five-game losing streak when they host the Seattle SuperSonics tonight at the Rose Garden.

Tonight's contest is the first of a home-and-home set between the clubs. Seattle will host the Northwest Division-rival Trail Blazers on Friday at KeyArena.

This is the second contest of the campaign between the squads. Brandon Roy and Jarrett Jack both scored 17 points to lead the Trail Blazers to an 89-79 victory over the SuperSonics on Christmas Day at the Rose Garden.

The Trail Blazers have won two in a row in the series. Seattle has dropped two straight at Portland.

Portland wraps up a short two-game homestand tonight. On Tuesday, Ron Artest scored 24 points to power the Sacramento Kings to a 105-94 win over the Blazers at the Rose Garden.

Travis Outlaw ended with 23 points in the loss for the Trail Blazers, who have dropped nine of their last 12 games overall. Martell Webster contributed 18 points off the bench for Portland, while Roy totaled 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists in defeat.

The Trail Blazers are 20-7 at home this season. They have lost two of their last three as the host.

Seattle made a trade on Wednesday. San Antonio obtained veteran Kurt Thomas from the SuperSonics in exchange for Francisco Elson, Brent Barry and the Spurs' 2009 first-round draft pick.

The SuperSonics will try to win back-to-back games this evening. Earl Watson had a season-high 26 points and nine assists to lead Seattle to a 108-101 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday at KeyArena.

Wally Szczerbiak chipped in 24 points for the SuperSonics, who snapped a two- game skid. Nick Collison recorded 12 points and nine rebounds, while rookie Jeff Green contributed 11 points and nine rebounds in the victory.

The SuperSonics played without rookie phenom Kevin Durant, who was sidelined with flu-like symptoms. Durant, who leads Seattle in scoring (19.4 ppg), is questionable for Thursday.

Seattle is 5-20 on the road this season. The SuperSonics have dropped 11 of their last 12 contests as the visitor.
