Houston Rockets (34-20) at New Orleans Hornets (37-15), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Two teams on winning streaks meet as the streaking New Orleans Hornets welcome the red-hot Houston Rockets tonight to New Orleans Arena.

The teams were involved in a three-team trade before the deadline on Thursday. The Hornets acquired swingman Bonzi Wells, guard Mike James, and cash considerations from the Rockets for guards Adam Haluska, Bobby Jackson, forward Marcus Vinicius and a 2008 second round pick. As part of the three- team deal, the Memphis Grizzlies received Vinicius, the rights to Malick Badiane and cash considerations in exchange for the rights to Sergei Lishouk.

The Rockets also acquired guard Gerald Green from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for guard Kirk Snyder, a second-round draft pick in 2010, and cash.

New Orleans has won five in a row and wraps up a two-game homestand this evening. Chris Paul scored 31 points, handed out 11 assists and came up with nine steals as the Hornets spoiled Jason Kidd's return to the Mavericks with a 104-93 win over Dallas Wednesday at New Orleans Arena.

Paul shot 11-for-20 from the floor, hit all seven of his free throws and scored 19 points in the third quarter, when New Orleans assumed control of the game. David West and Peja Stojakovic had 18 points apiece for the Hornets.

The Hornets are 18-8 at home this season. They will visit Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs Saturday at the AT&T Center.

Houston has won a season-best 10 straight games. Tracy McGrady had 23 points and 10 assists as the Rockets held off the lowly Miami Heat, 112-100, on Thursday at the Toyota Center.

Yao Ming scored 21 points on a near-perfect shooting night, hitting 10 of his 11 field-goal attempts while also grabbing nine rebounds. Carl Landry provided a second-half spark with 19 points and Rafer Alston netted 16 to go along with 11 assists for Houston, which has won 19 of its last 22 games overall.

Houston hadn't pulled off a double-digit win streak since Hakeem Olajuwon and the 1993-94 eventual world champions won their first 15 to open that season.

Luis Scola ended with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Shane Battier scored 12 and pulled down five boards for the Rockets, whose last setback was a 97-89 home loss to Utah on January 27.

The Rockets are a solid 17-11 on the road this season. After tonight's contest, they will return home for a five-game stand. Houston will host Chicago, Washington, Memphis, Denver and Indiana on the upcoming stand.

This is the second meeting of the campaign between the squads. On January 13, David West scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Hornets stung the Rockets, 87-82, at the Toyota Center.

Houston will host the Hornets on March 8 at the Toyota Center, while New Orleans will welcome the Rockets to New Orleans Arena on March 19.
