(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Lakers will try to push their season high winning streak to 10 games this evening, when they close out a short homestand versus the Miami Heat at the Staples Center.
The Lakers have won nine in a row and 12 of their last 13 games, including Tuesday's 96-83 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in the opener of a two-game homestand. Kobe Bryant finished with 30 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to keep LA's winning streak intact. Bryant is averaging 29.0 points, 5.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds during the winning streak -- LA's longest since winning 11 straight from March 13 - April 2, 2004.
Jordan Farmar equaled his career-high with 21 points for Pacific Division- leading Los Angeles, which has won three straight at home and is 19-7 as the host this season. Pau Gasol finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Sasha Vujacic contributed 12 points in the victory.
Phoenix is 1 1/2 games off the pace in the Pacific standings.
In injury new for Los Angeles, which has the best winning percentage in the Western Conference (.702), forward Vladimir Radmanovic is doubtful for Thursday's game with a calf injury.
Miami will open a three-game road trip out west tonight against the Lakers, Sonics and Kings. It has dropped 13 in a row and 18 of 20 games away from South Beach and owns a 4-22 mark on the road this season. Miami's last win as the guest was against the Suns on December 10 at US Airways Center.
The Heat ended an 11-game slide with a 107-86 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday in the finale of a two-game homestand at AmericanAirlines Arena. Shawn Marion scored 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the struggling Heat, who will try for back-to-back wins tonight for the first time since December 9 - 10 this season.
Udonis Haslem added 17 points, while Dwyane Wade tallied 15 points and nine assists in the winning effort. Miami, which has lost 26 of its last 28 games, is winless in eight Thursday games this season.
Thursday's showdown between Miami and Los Angeles is the second and final meeting this season. On February 10 at AmericanAirlines Arena, Bryant poured in 33 points to lead the Lakers to a 104-94 triumph.
The Lakers have won two straight and three of the last four meetings with Miami, which has lost two straight and four of its last five games as the guest in this series.
