(Sports Network) - The New Orleans Hornets will wrap up a six-game road trip this evening, when they pay a visit to the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena.
The Hornets are 4-1 so far on the trek and improved to 24-12 as the guest after Tuesday's 98-97 victory over the Orlando Magic at Amway Arena. MVP candidate Chris Paul had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Hornets, who are tied with San Antonio for the top spot in both the Southwest Division and Western Conference standings. The Spurs defeated Golden State on Tuesday, and are off until Friday night at Utah.
Morris Peterson added 19 points as well, while David West chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds in a winning cause for New Orleans.
The season couldn't end any sooner for the lowly Heat, who own the NBA's worst record at 13-61. Miami has lost four straight and finished the month of March with an abysmal 2-15 mark after Monday's 105-85 setback to the Indiana Pacers in the finale of a winless four-game road trip.
Daequan Cook scored 16 off the bench, and Kasib Powell and Chris Quinn each scored 15 for the Heat. Miami, which is 7-29 at home this season, has lost seven of eight and 13 of its last 15 games as the host. In injury news for Miami, forward Shawn Marion (back) is doubtful against New Orleans.
Wednesday's game between the Hornets and Heat is the second and final meeting of the season. The Hornets won the first matchup on January 11 by a 114-88 score at New Orleans Arena.
Miami has won five of eight and seven of the last 11 encounters with New Orleans, which has dropped five straight trips to South Beach.
The Heat are winless in 14 Wednesday games this season.
