(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Hawks are in control of their own playoff destiny and will shoot for their fifth straight win tonight, when they open a brief homestand versus the Toronto Raptors at Philips Arena.
Atlanta currently sits in the eighth and final postseason spot in the Eastern Conference -- just three games ahead of the Indiana Pacers and 3 1/2 games in front of the New Jersey Nets. The Hawks will also host the Philadelphia 76ers on the current homestand, and are 24-13 at home in 2007-08.
The Hawks posted their third win in a row after Monday's 116-99 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum. Josh Smith recorded 26 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals for Atlanta, which is shooting for its first five-game winning streak since December 15 - 26 this season.
Joe Johnson and Al Horford each netted 19 points in the win. Atlanta will put its five-game home winning streak on the line this evening.
If the Hawks win tonight, they will match their highest single-season win total since the 1997-98 campaign. The last time they qualified for the postseason was during the strike-shortened 1998-99 season.
Toronto will wrap up a two-game road trip tonight, and is 16-21 away from Canada this season. The playoff-bound Raptors ended a six-game losing streak as the guest with Monday's 104-100 triumph at Charlotte Bobcats Arena in the opener of the swing.
Chris Bosh scored 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Raptors, who are currently tied with Washington for fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. Anthony Parker scored 20 points and Rasho Nesterovic added 14, as the Raptors won for the third time in their last four games overall. They are closing in on their second straight playoff berth.
Wednesday's game between the Raptors and Hawks is the third and final meeting of the regular season. Toronto is 2-0 so far in the 2007-08 series and has won four straight and nine of the previous 12 matchups.
Toronto has also won two straight, five of six and seven of its last nine games on the road in this series.
