(Sports Network) - The surprising Philadelphia 76ers attempt to take a commanding 3-1 advantage over the Detroit Pistons tonight at the Wachovia Center in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.
After the teams split a pair in Detroit, the Sixers gave their home fans a thrill by crushing the Pistons in Game 3. On Friday, Samuel Dalembert recorded a playoff career high with 22 points to go along with 16 rebounds, and Philadelphia's stifling defense helped the Sixers to a 95-75 drubbing of the heavily-favored Pistons at the Wachovia Center.
Andre Miller finished with 21 points, while rookie Thaddeus Young added 10 points for the Sixers, who forced the Pistons to commit 25 turnovers. Reggie Evans finished with nine points and five rebounds.
Leading scorer Andre Iguodala ended with just 10 points on 2-for-9 from the floor for Philadelphia. The Arizona product also grabbed four rebounds and handed out six assists in the victory.
Richard Hamilton recorded 23 points for the Pistons, but battled foul trouble the entire second half. Tayshaun Prince scored 18, while Chauncey Billups netted 11 on just 2-for-11 sooting from the field.
The Pistons have dropped four straight playoff contests on the road.
Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Philadelphia has dropped two of its last three Games 4s in the playoffs, while Detroit has lost two straight Game 4s in the postseason.
The Sixers are back in the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-05 campaign. They have been eliminated by Detroit in their last two postseason appearances. The Pistons defeated Philadelphia in six games, 4-2, in the 2003 East semis and in five contests, 4-1, in the opening round of the 2005 playoffs.
The Pistons have made the Eastern Conference finals five straight years. They lost in six games, 4-2, last year to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East finals. Detroit is attempting to become the first team since the 1984-89 Los Angeles Lakers to reach six straight conference finals
