NBA Game Summary - Cleveland at Atlanta

Final Score: Cleveland 100 - Atlanta 95

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - LeBron James had a game-high 26 points to go with 11 rebounds and seven assists, as the undermanned Cleveland Cavaliers held on to defeat the Atlanta Hawks, 100-95, at Philips Arena.

The Cavs were without the services of Daniel Gibson (strained right hamstring) and Drew Gooden (strained right groin), and lost Larry Hughes in the fourth quarter to a toe injury.

Ira Newble chipped in with 18 points and eight boards for the Cavaliers, who have won three of four. Zydrunas Ilgauskas recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Damon Jones added 13 points off the bench. Hughes scored 15 points before leaving the game.

"This was a tough win for us," said Cleveland coach Mike Brown. "Atlanta has been playing well. After coming off the loss last night, I think we did a better job of getting offensive rebounds. Atlanta is a very active team. For the most part, we kept them off the boards."

Joe Johnson poured in a team-high 23 points and dished out eight assists for the Hawks, who had won three straight coming in. Marvin Williams scored 21 points and Josh Smith added 15 points and eight rebounds in defeat.

"In the fourth quarter, we got off to a good start, fell back and got back in the game, even actually led," said Johnson. "We just didn't come up with the key stops at the end, and the key plays on the offensive end to win the game. This was definitely a game I think we should have won."

Ilgauskas' tip-in pushed the Cavs' advantage to 67-53 with 7:26 remaining in the third, but Atlanta went on a 9-2 run to trim the deficit in half, 69-62. Cleveland carried an 80-69 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Hawks opened the final stanza on a 16-4 run to grab a one-point lead, 85-84. Smith's three-point play capped the flurry with 7:18 to play.

With the score knotted at 89, Jones' driving layup kick-started a 7-2 spurt that put the Cavs in front 96-91 with just over a minute remaining. Later, James sank a pair of free throws to seal the win.

In the first quarter, the home team shot 50 percent (10-of-20) from the floor, but only held a one-point lead, 26-25.

Hughes' dunk with 5:19 to go in the second put the Cavs up 48-39 and the margin reached 13, 59-46, after Eric Snow converted a pair from the foul line. Atlanta scored the final four points in the frame, but still trailed 59-50 at halftime.
