Final Score: Indiana 91 - New Jersey 102
East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Richard Jefferson tied a season-high with 36 points, carrying the New Jersey Nets to a 102-91 win over the Indiana Pacers.
Vince Carter tallied 24 points and nine rebounds, while Marcus Williams totaled eight points, seven rebounds and a career-best 13 assists for the Nets, who split the home-and-home series. Josh Boone added with 19 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.
New Jersey, winners in five of its last seven games, held a decisive 57-33 rebounding advantage.
"Yesterday we weren't communicating," Williams said. "Our offense played a little tentative and sometimes we rushed things. Today, we kept our composure and we attacked at the right times.".
Danny Granger scored 29 for the Pacers, who were 113-103 winners over the Nets on Friday. Mike Dunleavy added 19 points for Indiana, losers in four of its last five contests.
"They say in the NBA it's hard to beat a team twice in a row and they change games," Granger said. "They made the changes and we just didn't execute in the game."
Jefferson had 17 of his points during the crucial third quarter. He had the final seven of an 11-2 spurt, moving the Nets to a 64-51 lead with 9:01 left in the period. It was 78-69 going into the final quarter.
New Jersey led the entire fourth quarter, although the Pacers were able to cut the deficit to 96-91 with 2:22 remaining following a Granger three-pointer.
Carter then missed a jumper, but Boone came up big by blocking Granger's layup with under two minutes left.
The Pacers got another chance to cut into the five-point deficit after a steal by Kareem Rush. However, Granger badly missed a shot from the right corner and Boone nailed two free throws with 58.5 seconds left.
Troy Murphy then air-balled a three-pointer for the Pacers, and Jefferson drained two foul shots to seal the victory.
Rush had 10 points for the Pacers, who shot 9-of-29 from three-point range and 16-of-25 at the foul line. They ended at 39.8 percent from the field.
The Pacers led 27-24 after a tight opening quarter and they stretched the margin to as much as seven in the second, but the Nets rallied for a 12-3 run to end the half for a 50-46 edge.
