Final Score: Boston 112 - Portland 102
Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Paul Pierce scored 30 points as Boston rallied from an early 16-point deficit to beat Portland, 112-102, and snap a season- long three-game losing streak.
Pierce added seven rebounds and five assists for the Atlantic Division-leading Celtics, who have beaten the Trail Blazers six straight times. Ray Allen chipped in with 19 points, and Rajon Rondo had 15 points and eight assists.
"They got up early but we cut their offensive rebounds out," said Pierce. " We started to contest shots. We got some easy looks on the other end. We made them guard. We got good looks. When you get in your rhythm it's a whole lot better."
Travis Outlaw had 24 points off the bench for the reeling Blazers, who have dropped seven of their last eight games. Jarrett Jack netted 17 points, while LaMarcus Aldridge finished with 14 points and Steve Blake donated 12.
"Boston's play seemed very similar to the way they played in Boston," said Portland coach Nate McMillan. "This time Paul Pierce was hot and that was key."
Portland star Brandon Roy scored nine points before leaving the game in the third quarter after aggravating a right ankle sprain.
"It seems like it's getting worse and it's not getting any better," said Roy about the injury. "So tonight it was just a little too painful to continue to try to play through it. I hope it's just a sprain, I hope it's nothing more serious than that."
Trailing by 16 points after a lackadaisical opening quarter, the Celtics rebounded nicely in the second frame, managing to cut Portland's lead to 54-47 by intermission.
Boston then quickly evened things by scoring the first seven points of the third quarter. Allen stroked a three before Rondo buried a jumper and Kendrick Perkins deposited a layup to deadlock things at 54 with 10:02 left in the third quarter.
The Celtics kept the pressure on from there and closed the stanza with an 8-2 run, featuring two buckets from Pierce, that gave them a 79-71 edge heading to the final frame.
The Blazers continued to fall apart from there. Consecutive Pierce jumpers early in the fourth extended the Celtics lead to 13 points, 88-75.
Moments later, James Posey drained a three and followed that with a slam to give Boston its largest lead of the night, 96-77, with 6:40 remaining.
The Blazers tried to make one last push but never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
The Blazers closed the opening quarter with a 18-6 run to take early control in the contest. Blake and Martell Webster each hit threes during the burst and Outlaw finished it with a jumper to give Portland a 32-16 advantage.
