Final Score: Miami 88 - LA Lakers 106
Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jordan Farmar scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers in a 106-88 rout of the lowly Miami Heat at the Staples Center.
Kobe Bryant poured in 21 points, doled out eight assists and had four steals for the Lakers, who have won 10 in a row and 13 of 14 overall. Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds apiece. Sasha Vujacic totaled 12 points in victory.
Dwyane Wade netted 18 points for the Heat, who have dropped 12 of their last 13 games. Ricky Davis gave 14 points and nine assists, as Miami has dropped 14 in a row and 19 of 21 games away from South Beach. It owns a 4-23 mark on the road this season. The Heat's last win as the guest was against the Suns on December 10 at US Airways Center. Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks had 13 points each. Marion also had 11 boards.
Down by 13, Wade was fouled by Bryant while taking a three-point shot. He then connected at the line to complete the four-point play to trim the deficit to single-digits, 95-86, with 2:39 left.
It proved to be too little too late for Miami, as LA would rattle off 11 unanswered points to put the game away. Odom and Vujacic would drain threes to close out the run in the final minute of action.
Ronny Turiaf grabbed 12 boards and threw down seven points in the win.
The Lakers opened the game on a 22-6 run, but the Heat trimmed their deficit to 26-19 after 12 minutes of play.
The Lakers were ahead 53-41 at the break, after Bryant scored the final four points of the half.
"It was one of those games," Wade said. "In the first half, I didn't feel right. I just said it was one of those halves, and I came to the second half trying to be more aggressive."
Trailing by 12 just over two minutes into the third frame, Wade scored seven straight points, with Luke Walton adding two for LA, to bring Miami within 59-52.
However, the Lakers immediately responded with 10 straight points to extend their cushion to 17 points. Derek Fisher sparked the run with a three, Bryant added a dunk, Odom had three points and Gasol closed it out with a bucket at the 4:40 mark.
"Yea we are having fun playing with one another," Bryant said. "It makes the season that much more enjoyable."
The teams would exchange baskets and a Dorell Wright turnaround hook with just under 30 ticks left sent the Heat into the final stanza trailing 73-58.
An 8-2 Heat run pulled Miami within 11, 85-74. A Wade-to-Wright alley oop set off the run and a Davis trey closed it out with 6:50 left in regulation.
