NBA Game Summary - Philadelphia at New Jersey

Final Score: Philadelphia 108 - New Jersey 99

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Andre Miller scored 24 points and doled out 11 assists to lead the Philadelphia 76ers in a 108-99 victory over the New Jersey Nets at the Izod Center.

Andre Iguodala added 17 points and 10 assists for the Sixers, who snapped a two-game skid and sit just a half game behind idle Toronto for the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference playoff hunt. Willie Green chipped in 16 points and Samuel Dalembert had 15 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots.

Vince Carter scored 29 points and had seven helpers for the Nets, who have dropped three in a row and rest 3 1/2 games behind Atlanta for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Devin Harris totaled 22 points in defeat, while Richard Jefferson and Bostjan Nachbar had 14 each.

A pair of free throws from Jason Smith set the tone for an 8-0 Philadelphia run. Rodney Carney capped the surge with a three-pointer that gave the Sixers a comfortable 88-79 lead with 8 1/2 minutes left in regulation.

The Nets responded by scoring eight of the next 11 points to cut their deficit to 91-87.

Moments later, a Carter three brought New Jersey within one possession, 93-91.

The teams traded baskets before two Louis Williams buckets and a Dalembert dunk gave the Sixers a 102-93 lead with about two minutes remaining in the contest.

Two free throws from Miller with 39.1 ticks left gave the Sixers their biggest lead of the game, 108-97.

"You could see it in the players," Sixers head coach Maurice Cheeks said. "They really wanted to win this game because we let the last game slip away. Just the way the whole group played tonight was just huge for us."

Despite the Nets starting the game shooting 10-for-10 from the field, the Sixers held a 35-32 lead after the first quarter.

The clubs played to a 57-57 tie at the half.

The third quarter lead see-sawed until a Green fadeaway and three points from Iguodala opened a 71-67 Philly advantage with 3:09 still left in the third.

The Sixers went up by as many as seven, though, a Williams dunk brought the Nets as close as 78-73 heading into the fourth frame.

Carter's 1-of-2 performance from the foul line pulled New Jersey within a point, 80-79, with just under 10 minutes to play.

"We are very disappointed and down," Nets head coach Lawrence Frank said. "We obviously knew the importance of this game...we did some good things, and we did some bad things to get it to the last three or four minutes to get it to a two point game, but we are obviously disappointed we lost the game."
