Final Score: LA Clippers 98 - Sacramento 110
Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Kevin Martin scored 26 points, making 4-of-5 three-pointers, and the Sacramento Kings coasted to a 110-98 rout of the Los Angeles Clippers.
Mikki Moore scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Kings, who have won three straight and four of five. Francisco Garcia contributed 17 points off the bench for Sacramento, and Ron Artest added 10 points.
Brad Miller finished with 10 rebounds and six points for Sacramento, which had lost the previous three meetings with the Clippers this season.
"I thought all the way around it's a very good win for us and a much-needed win," Kings head coach Reggie Theus said. "We've had them down at least two or three times in games and they've come back, so this was a real good win for us."
Corey Maggette led the Clippers with 28 points. Elton Brand, in his second game back, scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds off the bench for the Clippers, who have split four games after dropping 10 straight. Brand missed the first 74 games of this season after surgery on his left Achilles tendon in August.
"I had some timing issues and a few other things," Brand said. "I didn't get tired really, but I was fatigued...I need to get back my feel for the game. The little things will come with time."
Nick Fazekas added 18 points off the bench for LA.
LA held a 43-40 late in the second quarter, but the Kings closed the first half with a 10-0 run, taking momentum into the break. Martin drained two threes in the last 30 seconds, including one at the buzzer, and Sacramento led 50-43 at the intermission.
The Kings ran that string to 16-0 by starting the third quarter with six straight points. Martin capped the run with a three-pointer and a technical free throw, posting the Kings to a 56-43 lead with 10:15 left.
Sacramento kept the pressure on, and a 7-0 push, closed by four straight points by Artest, gave the Kings a 65-47 lead with 8:12 remaining in the third quarter.
A small Clippers push, capped by a Maggette three-pointer at the buzzer, cut the Sacramento lead to 84-70 entering the final 12 minutes. But the Kings quickly snuffed out any hopes of an LA comeback. Sacramento scored eight straight to open the fourth quarter, taking a 92-70 lead on a Moore three- point play with 10:39 left.
The Clippers never threatened down the stretch.
The Kings held a 20-18 lead late in the first quarter, but the Clippers closed with seven straight points to take a 25-20 lead into the second.
