Final Score: Atlanta 92 - Philadelphia 85
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Joe Johnson finished with 22 points, and all five Atlanta starters scored in double figures, as the Hawks topped Philadelphia, 92-85, in the second game of a home-and-home series.
Josh Smith had 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Al Horford grabbed 12 boards to go with 10 points for the Hawks, who lost at home on Friday, but rebounded to win their sixth out of seven contests.
Marvin Williams scored 18, and Mike Bibby 10 for Atlanta, which holds the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, two games back of Toronto for seventh, after the Raptors lost at New Jersey on Saturday.
Andre Iguodala led Philadelphia with 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but the 76ers missed out on a chance to pick up ground in the playoff hunt. Philadelphia clinched a postseason berth with its win over the Hawks on Friday, and could have moved within two games of Cleveland for the fourth seed -- the Cavaliers lost earlier in the day to Orlando.
Instead, the Sixers fell back to sixth, as Washington broke a tie with Philadelphia, and claimed sole possession of fifth by topping Chicago. Andre Miller chipped in 18 points, while Lou Williams and Rodney Carney each had 13 off the bench.
After being down by double-digits entering the fourth quarter, Philadelphia began the final stanza with a seven-point surge to get back in the game. Iguodala had the final two baskets, the second of which was a trey that brought the Sixers within 70-64.
Atlanta, though, never let Philadelphia completely make up the difference the rest of the game. The Sixers got within two possessions a number of times, and made a last attempt when Carney drained a three from the right corner, with 1:20 left, bringing Philadelphia within 90-85.
Bibby missed a jumper on the Hawks' ensuing possession, but Horford grabbed the rebound. Bibby made his next shot -- a long jumper from above the foul line -- with 34.4 ticks left, putting the game out of reach.
The Hawks broke open a back-and-forth first quarter with a seven-point run. Smith had three points, and Zaza Pachulia capped it with a dunk, giving Atlanta an 18-11 lead with 3:07 to play.
Josh Childress made a pair of free throws at the end of the stanza to boost the Hawks' lead to 24-15, an advantage they never totally relinquished for the rest of the first half.
The Sixers got within two when Carney drained a three with 6:43 on the clock, bringing Philadelphia within 38-36. But Johnson made back-to-back buckets a few minutes later to help Atlanta restore its advantage at 46-38.
A Pachulia jumper capped the first-half scoring, and the Hawks led 55-44 at the break. Atlanta held onto its margin in the third stanza, and took a 70-57 lead into the final quarter.
