NBA Game Summary - New Jersey at Toronto

Final Score: New Jersey 85 - Toronto 113

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Carlos Delfino scored 24 points, including a 6-of-8 performance from three-point range, as the Toronto Raptors crushed the Nets, 113-85, ending New Jersey's playoff hopes.

Chris Bosh added 21 points and nine rebounds for the Raptors, who have won two straight after a three-game losing streak. Andrea Bargnani and T.J. Ford had 14 points apiece, while Jose Calderon contributed 11 points and 10 assists.

The win pulled the Raptors into a tie with Philadelphia for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference after the Sixers dropped an 85-76 decision to Indiana on Friday.

Vince Carter scored 21 to lead the Nets, who were eliminated from playoff contention with their sixth loss in seven games. Devin Harris had 19 points, six boards and five assists, while Richard Jefferson scored 14.

"It's extremely disappointing," said Nets coach Larence Frank. "After having six years of tasting postseason play, to not play in the postseason is extremely disappointing."

Trailing by two at the half, Bosh's jumper just over two minutes into the third quarter put the Raptors in front 56-54. The Nets kept the game close, pulling within one when Harris drained a three to make it a 62-61 game with 6:25 left.

Rasho Nesterovic responded with a three to start a 12-3 burst, finished off when Ford's pull-up jumper put the Raptors ahead 74-64 with three minutes left in the quarter.

Toronto dominated the quarter, outscoring New Jersey 37-19, and after Bargnani drained a pair of free throws in the waning seconds, the Raptors hit the start of the fourth quarter with a commanding 83-67 lead.

The Raptors continued to pull away in the fourth, opening up a 20-point gap on a pair of Delfino free throws with 6:43 to play. Two more free throws from Bargnani gave Toronto a 100-78 cushion inside of 6 1/2 minutes remaining, and the Raptors cruised to the win from there.

"I think you have to give credit to the second unit," Ford said. "They came in, played well and they picked up the intensity. Guys made shots and I think that helps the defense."

New Jersey made its final nine field goals of the first quarter, closing the frame with a 20-8 run that gave the Nets a 30-18 lead after 12 minutes.

"We just know we have to play defense, we have to play tight," Bosh said. "We know that offensively we are going to make shots, but if we get stops we can get up in the open court, get some fast breaks and make some easy baskets."

Toronto used a 14-2 spurt midway through the second to pull within 40-39 when Bosh capped the flurry with a slam, but the Nets didn't relinquish the lead and went to the half leading 48-46 despite five straight points from Delfino to end the session.
