Final Score: Toronto 84 - Detroit 91
Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) - Rodney Stuckey came off the bench to pace a balanced Pistons attack with 18 points as Detroit bested Toronto, 91-84, at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Chauncey Billups and Jason Maxiell both added 14 points for the Pistons, who have won two straight and have already locked up the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Richard Hamilton chipped in with 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.
"I think that nobody can stop my drive," Stuckey said. "From when I get to the basket, I love contact so I am going to go up with the big guys, it doesn't matter who it is. I was just out there being aggressive and picking and choosing."
Chris Bosh had a game-high 30 points and 10 rebounds for the Raptors, who lost for the first time in three games and fell into a tie with idle Philadelphia for the sixth spot in the East. Rasho Nesterovic netted 18 points and seven boards, while T.J. Ford had 10 points and eight assists.
"Chris (Bosh) played great and Rasho (Nesterovic) was solid, but other that, we didn't shoot well," Raptors coach Sam Mitchell said. "They've got a very physical team, even when they go to the bench, and we just weren't good enough."
The Pistons entered the final frame with a precarious two-point advantage and Toronto quickly deadlocked things when Carlos Delfino opened the stanza with a layup.
Detroit answered with an 8-2 burst to restore order. Stuckey finished the mini-run with a driving layup and the Pistons had a 73-67 edge with 9:18 left in the game.
The teams traded buckets over the next several minutes until Maxiell stuck a jumper to make it a 83-75 game with 4:55 on the clock.
The Raptors never threatened from there.
The Pistons built a 26-21 lead after the opening 12 minutes and continued to play frontrunner at intermission, 50-45.
The Raptors cut the gap to just two, 65-63, entering the fourth quarter.
