Lopez leads Standford over Arizona, into Pac-10 semis

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Brook Lopez scored 20 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as 11th-ranked Stanford topped Arizona, 75-64, in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 Tournament.

Robin Lopez, Brook's twin brother, tallied 14 points for the second-seeded Cardinal (25-6), who moved on to play Washington State in Friday's semifinals. Mitch Johnson chipped in 11 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Stanford, which also got 11 points from Fred Washington and Lawrence Hill.

Jerryd Bayless had 18 points to pace Arizona (19-14), which is in an uphill battle to extend its 23-year streak of NCAA Tournament appearances. Jordan Hill had 16 points, while Chase Budinger had 13 points and Nic Wise 11 in defeat.

Arizona, which now waits for Sunday for a possible at-large selection, was outrebounded 50-27.

A pair of Bayless free throws tied the game at 49 with 12:17 left, but the Cardinal had the next eight points of a 20-5 run. Two foul shots from Johnson capped the flurry of eight straight points.

Washington's jumper extended the margin to 69-54 with 5:10 left, leaving the Wildcats thinking about Sunday as they wait for a decision from the NCAA selection committee.

The Wildcats scored the first six points, but it was tight throughout the first half with the teams headed to the locker room tied at 35.

Game Notes

Stanford, trying to win the tournament for the first time since 2004, shot 42.9 percent from the field, compared to Arizona's 36.4 percent...Robin Lopez had four blocked shots.
