Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Danny Granger scored 24 points to lead the Indiana Pacers past the Detroit Pistons, 110-106, in overtime at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Granger, who went 6-of-20 from the field, also had 10 rebounds, as the Pacers snapped a three-game skid. T.J. Ford tallied 23 points and four assists, while Troy Murphy ended with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
"This was a great win for us because we haven't won too many games in overtime," said Murphy. "But we all worked hard, worked together and got this one tonight."
For the Pistons, Rodney Stuckey had 30 points to lead all scorers. He also added nine rebounds and six assists. Allen Iverson ended with 23 points and seven assists. Rasheed Wallace tallied 17 points and 15 rebounds for Detroit, which has lost three straight games.
The Pacers forced overtime thanks to a clutch 19-foot jumper by Granger with three seconds left in regulation. The Pistons failed to capitalize on their final possession with Richard Hamilton and Wallace missing shots, and the game went into OT tied at 93.
"We had a good look tonight," said Iverson. "Rip had a good look and just couldn't knock it down. We'll take that shot any night. But it shouldn't come down to that."
Murphy hit the key shot in OT, nailing a 26-foot three pointer with 1:52 left to put the Pacers up 103-98. The Pistons never got closer than three points the rest of the way.
After ending the first quarter on a 10-4 run, the Pacers led 31-29. Granger led all scorers at half with 14 points, as the home team took a 53-48 advantage into the locker room.
The Pistons went on a 6-1 run, capped off by a pair of free throws from Wallace, to start the third frame and tie the contest. The visitors took their first lead since halfway through the first stanza, when Stuckey took a steal for a layup to give Detroit a 62-60 edge.
It seemed like the Pistons were going to take control after Hamilton nailed a three pointer, followed by two Iverson jump shots to put Detroit up seven, their largest lead of the game. But the Pacers fought back and went on a 8-1 run, which was topped off with a Ford three-point shot with 40 seconds left in the third.
The teams headed into the final frame squared at 74.
The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle that set up for an exciting finish to regulation. Two straight baskets by Jarrett Jack brought the visitors within 92-91 with 2:23 left. Iverson converted on 1-of-2 foul shots with a minute remaining to put Detroit ahead by two.
Tayshaun Prince failed to seal the deal for the Pistons, by missing a 21-foot jumper with 12 seconds to go. But Granger would eventually send the game into OT.
