Champaign, IL (Sports Network) - Jeff Jordan, the son of legendary NBA player Michael Jordan, announced Friday he was leaving the basketball program at the University of Illinois.
The younger Jordan, who plans to transfer to another school, totaled 110 points, 98 assists and 68 rebounds in 92 career games for the Illini. He averaged 13.8 minutes a game during his junior season in 2009-10.
"Jeff was an important part of our team; a competitor who provided depth and steady play at the point guard position and was a defensive presence for us," Illinois head coach Bruce Weber said. "We thank him for all the hard work and effort he gave to our program. We will support him in the transfer process and wish Jeff the best as he continues with his education and career."
