Georgia Tech (3-3) at Vanderbilt (6-0)

GAME NOTES: The Vanderbilt Commodores will attempt to remain perfect on the season, as they welcome the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to Memorial Gym for a non-conference affair today. The Commodores kicked off a four-game homestand on Thursday by outlasting South Alabama, 91-88, in double-overtime. The win kept the team perfect at 6-0, marking its best start since the 2003-04 season. Vanderbilt, which is 3-0 at Memorial Gym this season, is in the midst of playing four straight and 10 of its next 11 games at home. As for Georgia Tech, it was last in action on Tuesday, when it fell just short of its upset bid against nationally-ranked Indiana, 83-79. It was the second loss in the past three games for the Yellow Jackets, who fell to an even 3-3 overall. Georgia Tech is in the midst of playing seven straight games away from home and it will conclude its long road stretch at Georgia State on Wednesday. In terms of the all-time series, Vanderbilt owns a 37-32 edge over the Yellow Jackets and that includes a 24-8 mark when playing in Nashville.

The Yellow Jackets have had no trouble at the offensive end of the floor this season, as they are averaging a hardy 79.5 ppg thanks to 47.7 percent shooting from the field and 41.9 percent from long range. Anthony Morrow heads the potent attack with 18.7 ppg and he is also grabbing 6.2 rpg and shooting 48.6 percent from three-point land. Alade Aminu adds 12.8 ppg and 6.7 rpg to the mix, while Lewis Clinch contributes 12.2 ppg. Jeremis Smith fills out the double-digit scorers with 11.8 ppg and he is also ripping down a team-high 8.2 rpg. In the team's last outing, Georgia Tech was outscored at the foul line, 28-11, and that proved to be the difference in an 83-79 loss at Indiana. Clinch paced the team in the setback with 18 points, while Morrow and Gani Lawal each turned in 17 points. Smith also got involved, as he notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Much like their opponent, the Commodores have thrived on offense this season and they come into the game scoring a healthy 84.7 ppg on 50.7 percent shooting from the field and 44.8 percent from downtown. Shan Foster is off to a terrific start and leads the club with 20.0 ppg on the strength of 52.0 percent shooting from behind the arc. A.J. Ogilvy has provided a nice complement to him and he is turning in 18.5 ppg and a team-best 6.0 rpg. Alex Gordon chips in with 11.0 ppg, and Ross Neltner adds 10.7 ppg and 5.5 rpg to this explosive attack. On Thursday, Foster poured in 26 points and recorded two steals in leading Vanderbilt to a double-overtime win against South Alabama. Ogilvy posted 19 points and eight boards in the triumph, while Neltner finished with 15 points and six caroms. The Commodores shot 46.4 percent from the floor and they also made good on 9-of-21 three-point attempts.

Both teams have been successful at the offensive end of the court this season, so expect a high scoring affair today. Vanderbilt has the advantage playing this game at home and with another balanced effort it should come out on top in this one.
