GAME NOTES: The Appalachian State Mountaineers will bring their five-game road trip to a close tonight, as they clash with the Wofford Terriers in Southern Conference play at Benjamin Johnson Arena. The Mountaineers have played well of late, winning four of their past five games, including two in a row. The team was last in play on Saturday, when it downed The Citadel, 63-50. The win pulled ASU to an even 2-2 in league play and in the process improved the team to 7-6 overall and 4-3 on the road. As for Wofford, it stepped out of league play on Saturday and bounced West Virginia Wesleyan 81-61. It was the fourth win in the past five outings for the Terriers, who improved to 8-5 overall and 5-1 at home. The team now turns its focus back to SoCon play, where it has gone just 1-2 thus far. As for the all-time series, ASU owns a 18-9 advantage over Wofford and it has won the last two meetings.

The Mountaineers sank 44.2 percent of their attempts from the floor and they controlled the boards, 43-33, in their 13-point win over The Citadel this past weekend. The team also clamped down on defense, holding The Citadel to a dismal 29.3 percent shooting effort from the field. Ryann Abraham led ASU with 13 points, while Donte Minter notched a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. On the season, Minter is the team's top scorer (12.5 ppg) and rebounder (6.5 rpg) and he also has 14 steals to his name. Kellen Brand and Donald Sims each chip in with 10.2 ppg for ASU, which is averaging 70.7 ppg behind 47.9 percent shooting from the field as a team this season.

The Terriers hit on 54.0 percent of their shots from the floor and 9-of-20 from three-point range, as they cruised past WV-Wesleyan over the weekend. The team also won the battle on the boards, 33-21, and that includes a 12-5 edge on the offensive glass. Shane Nichols led the charge with 14 points on 4-of-8 three-pointers, while Drew Gibson and Terry Martin each posted 13 points. For the season, Nichols leads the squad in scoring at 16.1 ppg and he is making good on 42.2 percent of his shots from behind the arc. Gibson puts forth 10.8 ppg and he is dishing out a team-high 5.2 apg. Overall, the Terriers are scoring 68.7 ppg this season, in addition to outrebounding their foes by 6.0 rpg.

Both teams are playing with confidence right now, so that should make for a hard fought affair tonight. It should be a close one all the way through, but look for Minter to make the difference for the Mountaineers.
