Hofstra (3-12) at Drexel (9-9)

GAME NOTES: Fighting their way through an extremely disappointing season, the Hofstra Pride continue the long road with a trip to Philadelphia this afternoon to do battle with the Drexel Dragons in a Colonial Athletic Association tilt at the Daskalakis Center. Winners of just three games overall this season, the Pride lost their second extra-session affair of the campaign on Thursday night with an 85-78 double-overtime thriller versus George Mason. The loss was the third in as many games and the seventh in eight tries for Hofstra. Meanwhile, the Dragons were in action a night earlier and picked up a 58-51 win over Georgia State at home. The victory snapped a three-game slide for Drexel, which hasn't won back-to-back games since defeating Bucknell and Rider near the end of December, both at home. Last season, the teams split a pair of overtime affairs, which means Drexel comes into this weekend still with a six-game edge in the all-time series at 35-29.

Antoine Agudio continued his chase for 2,000 career points on Thursday night, posting 19, but shooting only 6-of-20 from the floor in the loss to George Mason at home. Agudio did have seven assists, playing an incredible 49 minutes for the hosts, while Charles Jenkins finished with 19 points as well before fouling out. Dane Johnson nearly logged a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks, while Darren Townes had a double-double as well with 12 points and 11 boards. Now 41 points away from 2,000, Agudio is still one of the nation's top scorers with his 24.6 ppg, shooting almost as well from three- point range (.423) as he is the field overall (.426). Jenkins checks in with 13.9 ppg, which means the duo combines for far more than half of the team's 65.7 ppg. Townes is responsible for a team-best 6.9 rpg, but that still doesn't make up for the fact that he has a mere 10 total assists over the course of 15 games.

The Dragons rebounded from a soft 36 percent shooting effort from the floor in the first half on Wednesday night to make good on 52.2 percent in the second half, en route to the seven-point win over the Panthers. As the only starter to score in double figures for Drexel, Frank Elegar dropped in 14 points, cleared six rebounds and posted four blocked shots, which made the play of backup Tramayne Hawthorne so vital. Hawthorne converted 4-of-9 shots behind the three- point line to come away with a career-high 23 points. Elegar has been the lone threat game in and game out for Drexel this season, a reliable force in the middle with his 15.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, but even he needs help. Hawthorne, who leads the group with 61 assists and 31 steals, but is shooting only 36.4 percent from the field and 29.1 percent beyond the arc, is the only other double-digit scorer at 10.2 ppg. Held below 50 points in three straight games at one point this season, the Dragons average just 60.1 ppg heading into the weekend.

While Agudio is a dynamic scorer for the Pride he simply cannot be expected to carry the load every time out. The same goes for Elegar with the Dragons, but as Hawthorne showed earlier this week, he's still around to give support off the bench.
