GAME NOTES: The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are set to collide with the Clemson Tigers in an ACC contest. Wake Forest was most recently in action on Sunday, as the team extended its home winning streak to 15 games with a 74-57 victory over Florida State. That win halted a two-game skid for the Demon Deacons, who are 12-5 overall and 2-2 in league action. While they are 11-0 at home, they are just 1-5 in true road games. As for Clemson, it fell to No. 7 Duke on Saturday by a 93-80 final. That loss halted a two-game win streak for the Tigers, who are 14-4 overall and 2-2 in league play. Of their 14 wins, nine have come at home. Wake Forest owns a 95-51 series lead over Clemson, and the Deacs beat the Tigers by a 67-65 final last season.

James Johnson is just a freshman, but he is the leading scorer for Wake Forest this season with 15.1 ppg. Johnson is also pulling down 8.5 rpg, and he has blocked 25 shots to go with 30 steals. The only other double-digit scorer in the mix is Jeff Teague, as he is netting 11.1 ppg. The Demon Deacons are averaging 71.2 ppg while surrendering 64.9 ppg. Johnson was outstanding in the win over Florida State on Sunday, as he tallied a career-high 26 points, including 21 points in the second half. He shot 10-of-15 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, and added nine rebounds. Teague had 12 points in that clash, and Harvey Hale managed 10 points in a reserve role. Wake Forest only turned the ball over nine times, and the club forced 15 turnovers while limiting the Seminoles to 35.7 percent shooting from the floor.

Clemson is a tremendously balanced offensive team, as five players are averaging double figures in scoring. K.C. Rivers leads the pack with 15.4 ppg on the strength of his 41.5 percent shooting from three-point range. Trevor Booker adds 12.7 ppg to the mix on 56.3 percent shooting from the floor, and Terrence Oglesby is contributing 11.7 ppg. James Mays (10.9 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and Cliff Hammonds (10.5 ppg) round out the group. Clemson is averaging 81.8 ppg while limiting the opposition to 69.2 ppg. On Saturday, Rivers scored 16 points against Duke, while Booker and Demontez Stitt both had 15 points. Booker also pulled down 10 rebounds for the Tigers, who turned the ball over 21 times and simply fell apart in the second half. Sure, Clemson connected on 53.3 percent of its field goal attempts over the final 20 minutes, but several missed free throws and giveaways ruined a chance at victory.

Clemson gets the nod in this clash, as the Tigers have more scoring punch than does Wake. Add the homecourt advantage to the mix, and an upset by the Deacs seems unlikely.
