Loyola-Maryland (12-10) at Niagara (13-6)

GAME NOTES: The Niagara Purple Aces will try to remain in the win column when they host the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds this evening in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference battle at the Gallagher Center. The Greyhounds come galloping into this matchup, riding a five-game winning streak. The last time Loyola was on the court the team grabbed a convincing, 72-54 victory over NJIT. The current winning streak has pushed Loyola's league mark to a solid 7-3 on the season. As for the Purple Eagles, they snapped a two-game losing skid with a strong, 79-59 victory over Saint Peter's this past Friday. With the victory the team is now currently tied with Loyola-Maryland in league action at 7-3. Niagara has played extremely well at home this season, winning six of the seven games at the Gallagher Center. In terms of the all-time series between the two schools, the Purple Eagles have a solid, 26-14 edge over Loyola-Maryland.

The Greyhounds' top performer this season has been Gerald Brown, as the guard is averaging 17.9 ppg, despite shooting only 38.0 percent from the floor. Brown is also grabbing 5.1 rpg and has a team-high 42 steals. Marquis Sullivan has done extremely well from behind the arc, shooting 41.3 percent from long range, while averaging 12.0 ppg. Michael Tuck has been the main source of production in the paint, as the forward is netting 11.1 ppg to go along with 7.4 rpg. The last time Loyola was on the court the team shot 45.8 percent from the floor, en route to an 18-point win. The Greyhounds also made 23-of-30 attempts from the foul line. Tuck led the way in the win with 23 points and eight rebounds, while Brown and Sullivan both contributed 16 and 13 points, respectively.

The Purple Eagles have also soared offensively, as the team is producing 76.0 ppg. However, the team is only shooting 39.0 percent from the floor and just 31.9 percent from long range. Charron Fisher has been the main scoring threat for Niagara, as the guard is averaging a whopping 27.0 ppg, which is second best in the nation. Fisher is also collecting a team-high 9.1 rpg. Tyrone Lewis is only shooting 37.7 percent from the floor, but the guard is still averaging 15.8 ppg. Stanley Hodge has also contributed offensively, and is currently chipping in 12.1 ppg to go along with 5.6 rpg and 3.6 apg. The last time Niagara was on the court the team shot 42.6 percent from the field and was led by Lewis, who poured in 27 points. As for Fisher, he added an impressive 25 points and also collected eight rebounds.

The Purple Eagles have a very dangerous group of scorers, and they should continue to perform at a high level offensively. Look for Fisher to continue his sensational season, as Niagara moves to 8-3 in league play.
