GAME NOTES: The Daskalakis Center will be the stage for a Colonial Athletic Association meeting between Drexel and Towson, as the Dragons host the Tigers this evening in Philadelphia.
The last time the Tigers were on the floor the team snapped a four-game losing skid with a 58-53 decision over UNC Wilmington. It was just the fifth victory on the season for Towson, which is now a mere 2-9 in CAA play.
As for the Dragons, they saw their three-game winning streak come to an end the last time they were on the floor, as the team fell to William & Mary, 54-51. Drexel, which is 7-3 at home this season, fell to 7-4 in league play with the loss to the Tribe.
Earlier this season the Dragons defeated Towson, 52-49 and now own a 40-13 edge over the Tigers in the all-time series.
Finding success offensively has been tough for Towson, as the Tigers come into this game netting 66.8 ppg, behind a 40.2 percent shooting effort. Josh Thornton is currently leading the team with 11.9 ppg, while Calvin Lee is contributing 11.8 ppg, to go along with 6.0 rpg. The Tigers only scored 58 points in their last matchup, but fortunately that was enough for them to get past UNC Wilmington. Towson shot just 32.3 percent from the floor in the matchup, but made 14-of-15 attempts from the foul line. Thornton led the way in the win with 13 points, while Lee added a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Dragons were ineffective the last time they were on the floor, as the team scored only 51 points in a loss to William & Mary. Drexel shot just 38.8 percent from the floor in the matchup and finished only 4-of-13 from long range and 9-of-22 from the foul line. Jamie Harris led the way with 13 points, while Samme Givens and Chris Fouch tallied 11 points apiece. Harris has been the best player on the floor for the Dragons for most of the season and is leading the way with 14.7 ppg and 80 assists. Drexel might have a winning ledger on the season, but offensively the team has struggled, averaging just 62.0 ppg.
The Dragons are coming off one of their worst performances of the season, but look for Drexel to bounce back this evening when they host a Towson squad that has struggled on the road.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
