Arkansas (10-11) at Georgia (9-10)

GAME NOTES: The Arkansas Razorbacks have traveled to Athens for tonight's SEC clash with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Arkansas has won its last two games to move to 10-11 overall and 3-3 in league play. On Sunday, the club knocked off a strong Ole Miss squad by an 80-73 final, the first true road victory of the season for the Razorbacks.

As for Georgia, it has lost its last two games and five of the last six to fall to 9-10 overall and 1-5 in conference. On Saturday, the Bulldogs suffered a particularly heart-breaking defeat, as they fell to South Carolina on the road by a 78-77 final. Fortunately, they now return home where they have earned eight of their nine victories.

Arkansas owns a 15-10 series advantage over Georgia, including a 22-point romp over the Bulldogs last season.

Arkansas boasts four double-digit scorers on the season, and the team has certainly benefited from the return of Courtney Fortson. After missing the first 14 games, Fortson has played the last seven and is averaging 18.7 ppg and 6.3 apg. Rotnei Clarke provides 17.4 ppg, and Marshawn Powell adds 15.3 ppg. As for Mike Washington, he brings 13.3 ppg to the mix. The Razorbacks are generating 75.1 ppg while limiting opponents to 73.5 ppg. Against Ole Miss, Washington came through with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Powell posted 19 points. Clarke added 18 points in 32 minutes of action, and Fortson contributed 10 points. Arkansas played tremendous defense in that tilt, holding the Rebels to 38.2 percent shooting. A 23-9 edge in points from the foul line certainly helped matters.

Trey Thompkins continues to lead his Georgia squad in scoring with 17.4 ppg, and he is ripping down 7.8 rpg as well. Travis Leslie checks in with 14.2 ppg and 6.6 rpg, while Ricky McPhee rounds out a trio of double-digit scorers with 10.5 ppg. The Bulldogs are posting 68.0 ppg while allowing 68.1 ppg to opponents. Georgia shot 50 percent from the floor on Saturday against South Carolina and finished with 16 assists against only nine turnovers. The Bulldogs also earned a narrow rebounding advantage, but they permitted the Gamecocks to shoot 51.8 percent from the field, the most obvious contributing factor in the loss. Leading the way in the setback was Leslie with 21 points and seven assists. Thompkins tallied 18 points, and McPhee pitched in 12 points.

While Georgia has the advantage of playing at home tonight, Arkansas is simply the more talented team, especially with Fortson on the court. Give a narrow edge to the road squad.
