GAME NOTES: Southern Conference action will take place this evening when the Wofford Terriers host the Elon Phoenix at Johnson Arena.
It has been a rough season for Elon, which has dropped 16 of its 20 matchups. The last time the Phoenix were on the floor the team suffered 62-55 setback to UNC Greensboro. It was the 10th loss in the last 11 games for Elon, which is just 2-7 in league action.
As for the Terriers, they are coming off a 57-46 decision over Furman. It was the second straight win for Wofford and the eighth in the team's last nine games. With the win over the Paladins, the Terriers are now 7-3 in Southern Conference action.
Back in January Wofford defeated the Phoenix, 72-55. Despite the loss, Elon still holds a comfortable 29-16 edge over the Terriers in the all-time series.
Producing at the offensive end of the floor has been a problem for the Phoenix, who come into this matchup averaging just 63.7 ppg, behind a lackluster 39.5 percent shooting effort. Drew Spradlin is the current leader on the team offensively, as the guard is netting 13.3 ppg. Taking care of business down low has been Adam Constantine, who is netting 10.7 ppg, to go along with 8.1 rpg. Elon's offensive woes continued in its recent setback to UNC Greensboro, as the Phoenix shot just 34.4 percent from the field en route to a 55-point performance. Elon finished a mere 4-of-22 from long range, and also connected on just 9-of-20 attempts from the foul line. Spradlin led the way with 18 points in the matchup, while Constantine added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.
It is not often a team will shoot just 35.9 percent from the floor, but still walk away with a victory. However, that was the case for Wofford in its last matchup, as the Terriers grabbed an 11-point win over Furman. The Terriers connected on just 3-of-16 attempts from long range and just 8-of-15 shots from the foul line. Noah Dahlman led the way in the win with 12 points, while Tim Johnson added 10 points and nine rebounds. On the season however, Dahlman has been the only legitimate scoring threat for the Terriers, as the forward is netting 17.7 ppg, to go along with 6.4 rpg.
The Terriers dominated Elon on its home floor earlier this season, so there should be no reason why Wofford cannot duplicate those efforts tonight in front of a home crowd.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
