(1) Kansas (20-1) at Colorado (11-10)

GAME NOTES: Sitting atop the national rankings once again, the Kansas Jayhawks finish up a brief two-game road trip this evening, when they invade the Coors Events Center to battle the Colorado Buffaloes in Big 12 action in Boulder.

By virtue of their current five-game win streak, including Saturday's thrilling 81-79 overtime win at nationally-ranked Kansas State, the Jayhawks have once again captured the number one spot in the top-25, after a brief three-week hiatus. The win over rival KSU pushed Kansas to 6-0 in Big 12 play for the second straight season.

The Buffaloes are much further down the conference ladder, with a mere two wins in seven league games thus far. Colorado has dropped four of its last five games and enters this tilt off a heartbreaking 64-63 setback at Iowa State.

Kansas has won 13 straight over Colorado and six straight at the Coors Events Center. Overall, the Jayhawks hold a huge 117-39 advantage in the series.

The Jayhawks have the luxury of stellar play at both ends of the court. The result is a Big 12-leading +22.2 scoring margin. Offensively, the team is netting 84.7 ppg, while limiting the opposition to a mere 62.9. All-American candidate Sherron Collins leads the charge, pacing the team in both scoring (15.5 ppg) and assists (87). Collins is helped in the backcourt by freshman sensation Xavier Henry. The 6-6 youngster has certainly lived up to the hype, netting 13.7 ppg, while delivering on over 40 percent of his three-point attempts (42-of-104). Marcus Morris (12.6 ppg) and Cole Aldrich (11.6 ppg) give the team scoring balance up front. Aldrich is also a huge factor on the boards, grabbing 10.3 rpg. It was a back-and-forth game in Manhattan this past weekend, but in the end, Kansas was able to escaped with a one-point win in overtime. Aldrich led the way with his third straight double-double, finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Collins poured in 16 points, followed by Brady Morningstar (14 pts), Morris (13 pts, 10 rbs) and Tyshawn Taylor (12 pts).

The Buffaloes had an opportunity to steal a victory in Ames this past weekend, but Marcus Relphorde's layup attempt missed in the waning moments, giving the Cyclones the one-point victory. The Buffaloes got a huge performance from Cory Higgins, who tallied 21 points in the loss. However, the team was hampered by the early loss of freshman sensation Alec Burks, who suffered a knee injury just two minutes into the game and did not return. The 6-6 youngster is listed as day-to-day and is questionable for this contest. That could be a huge problem for the Buffs, who average a solid 75.8 ppg. Burks is a big part of that, ranking second on the team with 16.3 ppg. Higgins is the team's top offensive performer, shooting 50 percent from the floor and putting up 18.3 ppg. Relphorde is the only other double-digit threat at this time at 10.4 ppg.

With Burks, Colorado stands little chance of knocking off the Jayhawks. Without him, the Buffaloes will struggle to keep this one competitive.
