Buffalo (11-8) at Central Michigan (10-9)

GAME NOTES: The Central Michigan Chippewas will try to remain on top of the West Division in the Mid-American Conference when they host the Buffalo Bulls this evening at the Rose Center.

The Bulls fell to 4-4 in conference play with an 85-70 setback to Western Michigan in their last matchup. It was the fourth loss in the last five games for Buffalo, which is surprisingly 6-3 on the road this season.

Central Michigan pushed its league ledger to 5-2 (best in the West Division), with a 64-52 victory over Bowling Green. It was the third win in the last four games for Central Michigan, which is 6-1 at home this year.

The Chippewas own a 10-8 lead over Buffalo in the all-time series, but the Bulls snapped a three-game losing skid against CMU with a 56-55 decision over the Chippewas last season.

The Bulls come into this matchup averaging a respectable 73.5 ppg, and that is due in large part to the success of Rodney Pierce and Calvin Betts. Pierce is currently leading the team with 18.6 ppg, while Betts is contributing 11.1 ppg, to go along with a team-best 7.5 rpg. The last time the Bulls were on the floor, they scored 70 points, but still fell to Western Michigan. Buffalo was paced by Pierce, who erupted for 29 points on a 10-of-26 clip from the field. Betts added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss, but the rest of the team combined for just 31 points.

The Chippewas only scored 64 points in their last matchup, but that was good enough to lead the team to a 12-point victory over Bowling Green. CMU shot just 40.4 percent from the field, and was led by Jalin Thomas, who tallied a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Bitzer added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Chris Kellermann posted 10 points. The team's leading scorer, Robbie Harman (13.8 ppg) finished with just seven points in the matchup. Along with Harman, Bitzer has also been a solid contributor for Central Michigan, netting 13.0 ppg, to go along with 5.0 rpg. As a team however, the Chippewas are producing just 63.1 ppg.

The Chippewas have not exactly lit up scoreboards this season, but the team has played well at home and should continue to shine in front of its home crowd.
