Georgia Southern (6-17) at Western Carolina (17-5)

GAME NOTES: The Western Carolina Catamounts will put their perfect home record on the line tonight when they face the Georgia Southern Eagles in Southern Conference action at the Ramsey Center.

Western Carolina has gone 11-0 at home this season, which certainly presents a daunting task for the Eagles, who are 0-12 on the road.

Tonight's contest kicks off a three-game road swing for Georgia Southern. The Eagles have lost four of their last six overall, including a 90-72 home setback to the College of Charleston this past weekend.

On the other hand, Western Carolina has won five of its last seven, the most recent of which was a 62-50 triumph at Samford on Saturday. Following tonight's action, the Catamounts will stay home to take on Appalachian State on Saturday night.

Georgia Southern owns an 18-11 edge in the all-time series with WCU. These teams met on January 9th in Georgia, and the Eagles snapped a nine-game skid with an 81-76 victory over the Catamounts.

Eagles' forward Rory Spencer poured in a career-high 26 points on Saturday against Charleston, but his team still came away with an 18-point loss at home. That's because the Cougars were allowed to shoot a blistering 57.9 percent from the floor, highlighted by a 65.4 percent effort in the second half. Another area the Eagles certainly didn't help themselves was at the free-throw line, as they converted only 20-of-34 attempts (.588) for the game. Willie Powers joined Spencer in double figures with 14 points to go along with eight assists. Powers leads the team with 14.8 ppg on the year, and he has stepped up his play in SoCon games, averaging 16.0 ppg. He is complemented by Antonio Hanson, a 41 percent shooter from the perimeter who is tallying 12.6 ppg. Hanson is the only Eagle to have been in the starting lineup every game this season.

The Catamounts don't have a go-to guy on the offensive end, but they do have several capable scorers when called upon. Heading the list is marksman Jake Robinson, who averages 12.1 ppg for the year and is shooting a rock-solid 46 percent from beyond the arc in league play. Most impressive about Robinson is that he has inflicted all of his damage off the bench, as he has not started a single game this season. Brandon Giles and Mike Williams are each contributing 11 ppg. The Catamounts forced 17 turnovers in last weekend's win at Samford, which was one shy of their season's average (18.4). WCU shot a healthy 52.9 percent as a team, including 10-of-19 accuracy out on the perimeter, although Williams was the only Catamount to score in double figures. He finished with 13 points and four steals in the victory.

One of the few bright spots of the season for the Eagles was their win over WCU nearly a month ago. However, that win came at home and this time around they'll try to attempt what 11 other teams have not been able to accomplish at the Ramsey Center this season.
