GAME NOTES: For the 223rd time, Stanford and UCLA will collide on the hardwood, as the Bruins welcome the Cardinal to Pauley Pavilion for Pac-10 action this evening.
The Bruins hold a commanding, 132-90 edge over Stanford in the all-time series, but the Cardinal snapped a six-game slide against the Bruins with a 70-59 victory over UCLA earlier this season.
The last time the Cardinal were on the floor the team suffered an 88-70 setback to Arizona State. It was the second straight loss for Stanford, which is just 4-5 in league play.
As for the Bruins, they are coming off a 62-52 victory over Oregon State. It was the third win in the last four games for UCLA, which has collected eight of its 10 victories at home. The Bruins are treading water in the Pac-10, sitting at 5-4 in conference play thus far.
The Cardinal have relied heavily on the play of Landry Fields this season, as the forward is pacing the team with an impressive 22.3 ppg. Fields, who is also leading the team with 8.6 rpg, has posted 60 assists and 40 steals as well. Jeremy Green is the only other player averaging double figures for Stanford, contributing 18.0 ppg. The last time Stanford was in action the team scored 70 points, but still stumbled against a tough Arizona State squad. The Cardinal only made 35.7 percent of their attempts from the floor, and finished 6-of-28 from long range. Fields led the way with 22 points in the contest, while Green tallied 20 points.
The Bruins are currently shooting a respectable 46.6 percent from the field in the contest, but come into this game netting just 66.8 ppg. Michael Roll is leading the team offensively with 13.0 ppg. Malcolm Lee is next, contributing 12.7 ppg and 3.7 apg. The last time UCLA was on the floor the team only scored 62 points, but still managed to grab a victory over Oregon State. The Bruins overcame 20 turnovers by shooting a staggering 65.7 percent from the field. Reeves Nelson led the way with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Nikola Dragovic added 13 points. Roll posted 11 points and five assists in the victory.
Earlier this season the Cardinal got the better of UCLA, but look for the Bruins to put forth a stingy defensive effort, to even things up.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
