Tennessee State (4-19) at Murray State (20-3)

GAME NOTES: The Murray State Racers will try to keep an 11-game winning streak intact when they host the Tennessee State Tigers in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at the Regional Special Events Center.

Tennessee State was a 75-58 loser at Eastern Kentucky on Sunday in its last start. The Tigers were scheduled to face Jacksonville State on Tuesday but that game was postponed because of a leak in the roof at the Gentry Center. It will be rescheduled on a date to be announced. Tennessee State has now lost six straight games, five of them in-conference and stands at 4-19 overall and 1-10 in the OVC. The Tigers are 1-12 on the road this season and 0-5 in conference road games,

Murray State was an easy winner at Tennessee-Martin on Saturday, 77-45. The Racers are the proud owners of the nation's second-longest winning streak heading into action on Thursday. They're 20-3 overall and lead the OVC with a perfect 11-0 mark. Murray State is a perfect 10-0 at home this season.

Murray State beat the Tigers on January 7th in Nashville by a count of 80-59. The Racers lead the all-time series 41-15.

Jacquan Nobels netted 20 points in defeat for Tennessee State on Sunday. The Tigers also received 12 points from Robert Covington and 11 points from Tashan Fredrick. Tennessee State trailed just 32-27 at halftime, but the Colonels put the game away when they opened the second half with a 17-9 spurt. Jacquan Nobles is next in scoring at 10.7 ppg, while hitting 83.3 percent from the foul line. Robert Covington is also in double figures at an even 10.0 ppg. Covington is also the team's leading rebounder at 5.8 boards per contest. Jeremiah Crutcher tops the Tigers in assists at 3.7 apg, good for sixth in the conference. Tennessee State is scoring just 65.5 ppg, in part because the Tigers are shooting just 40.3 percent from the floor. Opponents are shooting an even 50.0 percent against Tennessee State, leading to a generous 74.3 ppg.

Isaiah Canaan and Ivan Aska scored 13 points apiece to lead Murray State to the win on Saturday. Danero Thomas added 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. The Racers are the epitome of a balanced team. Aska, their leading scorer, is 20th in the conference in scoring at just 10.8 ppg. Four other players are averaging in double figures however. Isaac Miles is at 10.5 ppg. Tony Easley and Isaiah Canaan are both at 10.2 ppg., while B.J. Jenkins is at 10.1 points per contest. Aska leads the team in field-goal percentage at 60.7 percent, but he hasn't taken a three-point shot all season. Canaan is hitting 45.2 percent from outside the arc and 81.7 percent from the foul line. Jenkins is fifth in the conference in assists at 3.7 apg, while Easley is the top rebounder at 5.7 boards per contest. Murray State is hitting 51.4 percent from the floor as a team while scoring 79.0 ppg. The Racers allowing just 60.0 ppg. At the start of the week the team was ranked second nationally in field-goal percentage and fourth nationally in scoring margin. The Racers were also fourth in the country in steals, averaging 11.0 per game.

The Racers should have no problems extending their winning streak. Right now, they're making a case for being an at-large invitee to the NCAA tournament in the event they don't win the OVC postseason berth.
