GAME NOTES: The Penn Quakers invade Leede Arena in Hanover this evening for an Ivy League matchup with the Dartmouth Big Green.
Penn's game-winning bucket against Brown in last Saturday's 55-54 triumph came after time had expired, but there was no instant reply available in the arena, and the officials simply blew the call. That triumph halted a four-game slide for the lowly Quakers, who are just 2-14 overall and 1-1 in league play.
As for Dartmouth, it has suffered three consecutive losses to fall to 4-14 overall and 0-4 in Ivy action. Last Saturday, the Big Green fell to Columbia by a 63-51 final, and a lack of offensive punch continues to be a problem. All four wins have come at home for Dartmouth, the only reason the team has to be confident heading into this evening's affair.
The Quakers own a commanding 141-56 series edge over the Big Green, but Dartmouth broke a 23-game losing streak to Penn with wins in both meetings last season.
Zack Rosen is the top offensive performer for Penn, as he is netting 16.6 ppg to go along with 70 assists. As for Jack Eggleston, he provides 12.8 ppg and 6.5 rpg. The Quakers are only scoring 61.4 ppg for the season on 38.4 percent shooting from the field, including 29.2 percent from three-point range. At the defensive end of the court, they are permitting 77.2 ppg on nearly 50 percent shooting by opponents. In the win over Brown last time out, Penn shot just 33.3 percent from the floor, including 3-of-15 from three-point range. The Quakers earned a 37-29 rebounding advantage and were fortunate to win.
The fact that no player is averaging more than 8.1 ppg this season for Dartmouth is downright embarrassing. The team is generating a lowly 54.3 ppg on 38.5 percent shooting from the floor, including 27.6 percent from three- point range. Meanwhile, the Big Green are permitting 65.1 ppg, and it hasn't helped matters that they are being outrebounded by 7.4 rpg. In the most recent loss to Columbia, Dartmouth connected on only 36.5 percent of its field goal attempts, including a 5-of-22 effort from three-point range. The Big Green also suffered a 34-25 rebounding disadvantage and a 19-8 deficit in points from the foul line. Robby Pride, the club's leading scorer, finished with 13 points in defeat, while Jabari Trotter pitched in 12 points off the bench.
Penn will play hard tonight and earn a road victory. Dartmouth is a bad team and shows no signs of improvement.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
