Saint Peter's (13-9) at Fairfield (15-7)

GAME NOTES: Two teams tied for third place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference collide tonight, as the Saint Peter's Peacocks meet the Fairfield Stags at the Arena at Harbor Yards.

The Peacocks have turned their season around in January, winning seven of nine outings in the month. Most recently, SPC avenged an earlier loss to Manhattan with a 72-44 whipping on Sunday. The win improved the team to 13-9 overall and moved it into a third place tie in the MAAC at 8-4.

The Stags meanwhile, have dropped two of their last three outings to fall into a tie with SPC at 8-4. The team was last in action Saturday, when it suffered an 88-80 defeat to Rider. It was just the second loss in 10 home games for Fairfield, which is now 15-7 overall.

As for the all-time series, SPC holds a 48-46 edge over Fairfield, but the Stags have won the last nine meetings, including a 61-48 decision earlier this season.

In their last game, SPC held Manhattan to a dismal 30.5 percent shooting performance from the field on its way to a 72-44 rout. The Peacocks also dominated the boards, 55-29, including a 22-13 advantage on the offensive glass. Ryan Bacon led the way with a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Wesley Jenkins had 19 points and nine rebounds. Jenkins leads SPC on the season with an average of 14.1 ppg and he is also grabbing 5.0 rpg. Nick Leon follows with 12.9 ppg, meanwhile, Bacon turns in 10.1 ppg and a team-best 9.3 rpg for the Peacocks.

The Stags lacked defense in their most recent outing, allowing Rider to shoot an efficient 54.0 percent from the field in an 88-80 setback. Fairfield didn't help its is cause with a poor 9-of-18 effort at the foul line and 20 turnovers that resulted in 28 points for Rider. Mike Evanovich made 8-of-11 three- pointers en route to 24 points for the Stags, while Derek Needham notched a double-double of 20 points and 10 assists. Yorel Hawkins added 14 points, and Anthony Johnson had a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards. On the season, Needham tops the squad in scoring at 15.6 ppg and he is also dishing out a team-high 5.9 apg. Johnson tacks on 14.6 ppg and a team-high 9.1 rpg, while Hawkins contributes 14.6 ppg and 5.5 rpg.

Fairfield has the edge playing at home and its trio of double-figure scorers should lead the way in a victory for SPC tonight.
