GAME NOTES: Looking for their first road win on the season, the Arkansas- Little Rock Trojans will battle the UL Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns tonight in Sun Belt Conference action at the Cajundome.
The Trojans have actually played well recently, winning their last two matchups. The last time UALR was on the floor the team pushed its conference mark to 3-8 on the year with a 79-77 victory over Arkansas State.
The Cajuns bumped their Sun Belt ledger to 7-4 on the year with an 83-63 decision over FIU. It was the sixth win in the last eight games for ULL, which is 7-4 at home this season.
The Cajuns own an 18-14 edge in the all-time series, but the Trojans have won the last two meetings, and that includes a 76-69 decision over the Cajuns back in January.
Alex Garcia-Mendoza played the role of hero Thursday night, as the forward nailed a three-point basket in the final seconds of regulation to give the Trojans a thrilling, 79-77 victory over Arkansas State. Garcia-Mendoza finished with 14 points, while Solomon Bozeman led the way with 20 points and seven assists. Matt Mouzy contributed 12 points, while Kelson Stewart tallied 10 points. Throughout the season however, the Trojans have struggled a bit offensively, netting just 68.8 ppg. Bozeman has been the most consistent option, as the guard is leading the team with 14.8 ppg and 98 assists. Garcia- Mendoza is contributing 11.7 ppg and 5.3 rpg, while Mouzy is posting 11.0 ppg.
The Cajuns are coming off an impressive performance against FIU, as they shot 55.7 percent from the field, and made 10-of-21 attempts from long range, en route to a 20-point victory. Tyren Johnson led the way in the win with 22 points, while Randell Daigle added 19 points. Chris Gradnigo helped out with 13 points, while Travis Bureauand Lamar Roberson chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively. On the season however, the Cajuns are netting just 69.1 ppg. Johnson has been the best player on the floor for ULL, as the forward is leading the team with 16.6 ppg and 8.5 rpg. Gradnigo is posting 14.6 ppg, while Daigle is netting 11.2 ppg.
The Trojans might have a two-game winning streak, but the team is winless on the road, and UALR's road woes should continue this evening against the Cajuns.
