GAME NOTES: Murray State hopes to continue its dominance within the conference and at home, as the Racers play host to the Austin Peay Governors tonight in Ohio Valley Conference action.
Murray State comes in red hot, as the team easily handled Tennessee Tech at home on Thursday night, 76-54, marking its 12th consecutive victory. Murray State has yet to be defeated by an OVC opponent this season, staking claim to a 12-0 league ledger to this point.
Austin Peay defeated UT-Martin, 74-69, on Thursday to improve to 14-10, as well as helping its conference record to 8-4. The Governors are riding a four- game win streak, which included two road victories after starting the season 2-6 away from home.
Murray State holds the upper hand in the all-time series with Austin Peay, leading 73-40. The last meeting between the teams took place on January 9th as the Racers gained a road victory in a 69-53 final, behind B.J. Jenkins' 14 points and five assists. The Governors were led by Wes Channels, who tallied 14 points. Both Campbell and Fraley were able to record double-doubles, tearing down 10 and 14 rebounds, respectively. The Governors sunk 50.0 percent (13-of-26) of their shots from the floor in the second half and are shooting 45.4 percent from the field on the season. The team holds a mere +0.3 scoring margin, netting 72.5 ppg.
Murray State is on a roll at the right time, heading into the tail end of the season showing off a 12-game win streak. It's hard to think it won't extend it to a baker's dozen tonight over an Austin Peay team that has struggled on the road.
