GAME NOTES: The nightmare season for Toledo continues this evening when the Rockets host the Buffalo Bulls in a Mid-American Conference tilt at Savage Arena.
The Bulls fell to 4-5 in league play with their recent, 88-82 setback to Central Michigan. It was the fifth loss in the last six games for Buffalo, which is a solid 6-4 on the road this season.
The Rockets have struggled through a miserable season, losing 20 of their 23 games. Toledo has dropped its last 13 games, and that includes a 65-58 overtime loss to Ohio on Thursday, which leaves the team winless in nine league games.
The Rockets have won 11 of the 14 matchups against Buffalo, but the Bulls have won three of the last six meetings, including a 56-43 decision over Toledo last season.
The Bulls dropped 82 points the last time they were on the floor, but unfortunately the team still suffered a loss to Central Michigan. Rodney Pierce led the way in the loss with 22 points and seven assists, while Calvin Betts added 15 points, to go along with eight rebounds. Pierce and Betts have been the top two players for Buffalo, as Pierce is leading the team with 18.8 ppg, while Betts is contributing 11.3 ppg, and a team-best 7.5 rpg. Buffalo comes into this game averaging a healthy 73.9 ppg, but has struggled defensively, giving up 74.1 ppg.
Finding success offensively has been tough for Toledo, as the team is netting just 55.6 ppg on the season. Jake Barnett is the only player netting double figures for Toledo, as the guard is posting 13.6 ppg. The last time Toledo was in action, it lost to Ohio in overtime. In the setback, the Rockets finished with just 58 points behind a meager 31.3 percent shooting effort. Justin Anyijong led the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Barnett added 19 points and seven boards.
It has been a bumpy ride to say the least for Toledo this season, but look for the Rockets to finally break into the win column this evening against Buffalo. Do not expect a thrilling matchup, but Toledo might just have enough to scratch out a win.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
