GAME NOTES: The Pacific Tigers will try to hold on to the top spot in the Big West Conference when they host the Cal Poly Mustangs this evening at the Spanos Center.
The last time the Mustangs were in action the team suffered an embarrassing, 83-63 setback to UC Davis. It was the third straight loss for Cal Poly, which is 5-4 in-conference. Playing on the road has been a problem for the Mustangs who have suffered 10 of their 13 losses as the visitor.
As for the Tigers, they are coming off a shocking, 61-48 setback to UC Santa Barbara at home. The loss snapped the team's five-game winning streak, but even with the setback Pacific still sits on top of the Big West with a 7-2 ledger.
The two teams have split the last six meetings, with the most recent contest going to Pacific by a 73-63 decision back in January. However, overall the Tigers have dominated Cal Poly, winning 30 of the 40 matchups.
Not much went right for the Mustangs on Thursday, as the team finished with just 63 points in the loss to UC Davis. Cal Poly shot just 36.5 percent from the field, and also committed 19 turnovers, which turned into 23 points for the Aggies. Lorenzo Keeler scored nearly half of the team's points, finishing with 30 on a 7-of-14 clip from the field. Keeler has been the best player on the floor for Cal Poly, as the guard is pacing the team with 15.5 ppg. As a whole the Mustangs have been mildly inconsistent offensively, netting just 68.2 ppg.
The Tigers are coming off their worst offensive performance of the season, as the team scored just 48 points at home against UC Santa Barbara. Pacific shot just 29.4 percent from the field in the matchup and finished 6-of-27 from behind the arc. Allen Huddleston was the only player in double figures for Pacific, as the guard finished with just 10 points. It is somewhat amazing that the Tigers have such a solid record considering the team is producing just 64.7 ppg on the year. There is not one player posting double figures thus far, as Sam Willard is leading the squad in scoring, but with only 9.6 ppg.
Do not expect the Tigers to put forth a similar effort tonight against Cal Poly. Pacific is a gritty team and should bounce back with a victory over the Mustangs.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
