Kent State (16-7) at Central Michigan (11-9)

GAME NOTES: The Golden Flashes will try to continue their recent success against Central Michigan, when the Chippewas host Kent State this evening in a Mid-American Conference battle at the Rose Center.

Kent State has won eight straight against Central Michigan and 15 of the last 16 matchups. With the recent success, KSU now owns a 39-29 edge over the Chippewas in the all-time series.

The Golden Flashes currently sit on top of the East Division in the conference with a 7-2 mark. Kent State has won its last six matchups, including a 75-68 victory over Eastern Michigan on Thursday. With the win, the Golden Flashes are now 6-4 on the road.

The Chippewas, who lead the West Division with a 6-2 ledger, are coming off an 88-82 victory over Buffalo. It was the fourth win in the last five games for CMU, which is 7-1 at home.

The Flashes shot 52.1 percent the last time they were on the floor, and walked away with a seven-point victory over Eastern Michigan. Anthony Simpson led the way with 19 points, while Tyree Evans and Rodriquez Sherman tallied 14 points apiece. On the season, the team is being paced by Justin Greene, who is netting 13.2 ppg and 6.3 rpg. Evans is contributing 11.5 ppg, while Sherman is posting 11.0 ppg, to go along with 78 assists. As a whole, the Golden Flashes have been adequate offensively, averaging 70.6 ppg. However, what has been the key to KSU's success has been the team's play defensively, as the Flashes are holding opponents to just 64.4 ppg.

The Chippewas are coming off one of their best performances of the season, as Central Michigan scored 88 points in a win over Buffalo. CMU shot 50.0 percent from the field and completed 25-of-32 attempts from the foul line. Jordan Bitzer led the way with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Robbie Harman added 10 points. Harman and Bitzer have been the top two players on the floor for Central Michigan, as Harman is posting 14.1 ppg and 3.2 apg, while Bitzer is contributing 13.5 ppg, to go along with 5.2 rpg. Even though the team erupted offensively in its last matchup, the Chippewas have been less explosive overall, netting just 64.3 ppg on the year.

Neither team has been overwhelming offensively, so expect a low-scoring affair. The Chippewas are at home, but the Golden Flashes have controlled the series for the past few seasons and should continue their success here.
