North Texas (14-8) at F-I-U (7-18)

GAME NOTES: Sun Belt Conference action will take place this afternoon at the U.S. Century Bank Arena, when the FIU Golden Panthers host the North Texas Mean Green.

The last time the Mean Green were on the floor the team posted an 86-69 victory over Florida Atlantic. It was the fifth win in the last seven games for North Texas, which is now 7-5 in conference play.

The Golden Panthers fell to 4-8 in league play the last time out, as FIU was defeated by UL-Lafayette, 83-63. It was the eighth loss in the last 11 games for the Golden Panthers, who have collected four of their seven victories at home.

The Mean Green have won eight of the 11 all-time matchups against FIU, but earlier this season the Golden Panthers grabbed one of their three road wins with an 80-70 decision over North Texas in overtime.

The Mean Green have been one of the more dangerous teams in the Sun Belt at the offensive end of the floor, averaging 74.9 ppg, behind a 45.7 percent shooting effort. Josh White is netting 14.3 ppg and has dished out a team-best 82 assists. Tristan Thompson is contributing 14.0 ppg, while Eric Tramiel is netting 12.6 ppg. George Odufuwa is pacing the team in the paint, as the forward is averaging 11.4 ppg and 10.4 rpg. The last time North Texas was on the floor the team exploded for 86 points in a win over Florida Atlantic. The Mean Green shot 63.8 percent from the field, and also connected on 25-of-33 attempts from the foul line. Tramiel led the way with 17 points and eight boards, while Thompson added 16 points. Odufuwa contributed 14 points and nine rebounds, while Alzee Williams chipped in 12 points.

The Golden Panthers were not golden the last time they were in action, as the team scored just 63 points in a loss to UL-Lafayette. FIU shot 42.1 percent from the floor in the matchup, but made just 3-of-18 attempts from behind the arc. JC Otero led the way in the setback with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Phil Gary added 14 points. The team's leading scorer, Marvin Roberts (15.7 ppg), finished with just nine points in the loss. As a whole the team has struggled at times offensively, and heads into this matchup netting just 67.9 ppg.

The Mean Green have been strong at the offensive end of the floor, and should continue to perform at a high level this afternoon against a weak FIU squad.
