Samford (9-14) at College of Charleston (15-8)

GAME NOTES: The College of Charleston Cougars will try to extend their winning streak when they host the Samford Bulldogs in a Southern Conference battle at Carolina First Arena.

Samford was a 61-57 loser at The Citadel on Thursday night in its last start. It was the Bulldogs' fourth straight defeat and dropped them to 9-14 overall and 3-8 in conference play. Samford is just 3-7 in true road games this year.

College of Charleston was a homecourt winner over Chattanooga, 86-74 on Thursday night. It was the Cougars' third straight win following a short two- game losing streak. They now stand at 15-8 overall and lead the SoCon's South Division with a 10-2 mark. College of Charleston has been invincible at home this season, where they sport a perfect 9-0 mark.

This will be the 17th meeting between the two schools. The series is tied 8-8 with the Cougars winning the only meeting a year ago.

Josh Davis posted 24 points in defeat for Samford on Thursday night. The Bulldogs received 16 points from Bryan Friday. Davis is the top scorer on the ballclub at 12.8 ppg. He's hitting 40.0 percent from long range. Friday is next on the scoring list at 10.8 ppg. Trey Montgomery is also in double figures at 10.1 ppg. Davis and Montgomery are each averaging 4.0 rebounds per contest, which is tops on a team that is averaging just 27.5 rebounds per game. Montgomery is also the team assist leader, at 3.0 apg. Samford is shooting the ball at a 45.6 percent rate from the floor, but the Bulldogs are averaging just 57.0 ppg. while giving up 59.0 ppg. at the other end of the floor.

Tony White Jr. posted 19 points to lead the Cougars on Thursday. Andrew Goudelock and Matt Sundberg registered 17 points apiece for the Cougars, while Donavan Monroe and Jeremy Simmons added 10 points apiece. Simmons added nine rebounds. Goudelock is the leading scorer in the Southern Conference at 19.5 ppg, shooting 49.0 percent from the floor and 40.3 percent from long range. Goudelock is also the teams assist leader at 3.6 apg. Monroe is next in scoring at 12.6 ppg, shooting 84.8 percent from the foul line and 40.4 percent from long range. Simmons is providing 12.1 points and a team-high 7.9 boards per contest. He's ranked third in the conference in the latter category. White is also in double figures at 11.3 ppg. Curiously, the Cougars are being outrebounded by their opponents by a margin of 41.5-30.8, but they're shooting 46.4 percent from the floor and are averaging a steady 74.6 ppg.

The Cougars should be able to dictate the pace today and extend their winning streak.
