Troy (13-10) at Western Kentucky (12-11)

GAME NOTES: The Troy Trojans will try to remain on top of the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference, when they take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers this evening at the E.A. Diddle Arena.

The Trojans are firing on all cylinders at the present moment and roll into this matchup with a three-game winning streak. The last time Troy was in action the team grabbed a 70-67 victory over Middle Tennessee. With the win over the Blue Raiders, the Trojans pulled even with them and Florida Atlantic for the top spot in the East at 8-4.

The last time the Hilltoppers were on the floor the team suffered a heartbreaking, 67-66 setback to UL-Monroe. It was the sixth loss in the last seven games for Western Kentucky, which is just 5-6 in conference play.

The Hilltoppers own a 6-3 edge over Troy in the all-time series, but the Trojans have won the last two matchups, including a 77-69 decision over WKU earlier this season.

The Trojans have marched through the competition thus far, averaging an impressive 77.2 ppg, behind a 48.2 percent shooting effort. Brandon Hazzard is currently pacing the team with 17.0 ppg, while Richard Delk is contributing 12.5 ppg. Michael Vogler, who is leading the team with 133 assists, is helping out with 11.5 ppg, while Yamene Coleman is posting 10.9 ppg and 8.1 rpg. The last time the Trojans were on the floor the team shot 47.3 percent from the floor and went on to grab a three-point win over Middle Tennessee. Hazzard led the way with 21 points, while Vogler added 16 points and five assists. As for Coleman, he finished with 12 points in the victory.

The Hilltoppers shot 44.2 percent from the field the last time they were in action, but still suffered a one-point loss to UL-Monroe. Jeremy Evans led the way in the setback with 19 points and five blocks, while AJ Slaughter added 18 points. Slaughter has been the team's best option throughout most of the season and heads into the game netting 17.0 ppg, to go along with 91 assists. Steffphon Pettigrew has been solid down low for Western Kentucky, as the forward is posting 14.8 ppg and 6.3 rpg. As a whole the Hilltoppers are shooting a respectable 44.0 percent from the floor, but the team is averaging a mediocre 68.6 ppg.

The Hilltoppers are usually strong at home, but this season they have been rather inconsistent. Against a team like Troy, the Hilltoppers could be in trouble this evening.
