William & Mary (15-7) at Georgia State (10-14)

GAME NOTES: The William & Mary Tribe travel to Atlanta to challenge the Georgia State Panthers in Colonial Athletic Association action.

Georgia State comes into the affair on a high note, having toppled league- leading George Mason, 61-57, in front of the home crowd on Wednesday night. The win halted a three-game losing streak for the Panthers, who had also lost eight of their previous nine contests.

William & Mary was defeated by Old Dominion on Wednesday, 61-42. The loss was the Tribe's fourth in the last five games, all against CAA foes. Prior to that stretch, W&Mary was victorious in 14 of 15 contests.

William & Mary leads the all-time series between these two teams, 5-3. The last meeting between the clubs came over a year ago, as the Tribe was defeated by Georgia State in a 58-51 final.

Jihad Ali sparked Georgia State with a terrific performance off the bench on Wednesday night, scoring 22 points, including the go-ahead three-pointer with 42 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Panthers to a 61-57 upset of George Mason. Joe Dukes recorded a double-double in the win, adding 10 points of his own while dishing out 10 assists. Despite shooting a measly 29.6 percent from the floor in the first half, Georgia State turned things around in the second stanza, connecting on 52.0 percent of its field goal attempts en route to the four-point triumph. Dukes is the Panthers' leading scorer on the season, netting 13.5 ppg. Trae Goldston rounds out the double-digit scorers for the Panthers with his 10.8 ppg.

William & Mary is led by David Schneider's 15.8 ppg. However, Schneider could only manage six points on a wretched 2-of-12 shooting effort in Wednesday's 61-42 defeat at Old Dominion. The loss marked the Tribe's fifth conference loss. Nobody could touch double-digits in the debacle for W&M, as Quinn McDowell, who is second on the team in scoring at 14.7 ppg, led the way with only eight points. William & Mary was absolutely man-handled on the boards, losing the rebounding battle by a 48-25 margin. The Tribe shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the affair, including an extremely poor 7-of-25 (.280) in the second half. On the year, W&M is shooting 43.4 percent from the floor, while its foes connect on 41.4 percent of their total shots. The Tribe also holds a slight advantage scoring margin, yielding 66.1 ppg while netting 69.9.

These teams are seemingly headed in different directions, as the Tribe has struggled of late while the Panthers are coming off their biggest win of the season. Expect the home team to take advantage of the situation and earn a hard-fought victory.
