Yale (8-14) at Columbia (8-11)

GAME NOTES: The Columbia Lions cap off a five-game homestand tonight as they host the Yale Bulldogs in an Ivy League showdown at Levien Gym in Manhattan.

Since dropping five straight decisions, including their first three in conference, the Lions have bounced back with a pair of victories. The most recent of those took place last night with a 65-54 triumph over the Brown Bears.

As for the Bulldogs, they too are now 2-3 versus the rest of the Ivy League, but in their case they've fallen in a pair of outings, with a 90-71 setback to high-flying Cornell last night being the latest.

In terms of the all-time series, one that stretches back more than a century, the Lions own a 122-94 advantage over Yale. Columbia has won two straight in this building and four of the last six meetings overall.

Yale's Alex Zampier scored a team-best 11 points last night, but he did so despite missing all five of his three-point attempts and converting a mere 2- of-10 from the floor overall. Reggie Willhite and Michael Sands contributed 10 points apiece as the Bulldogs hit a modest 47.9 percent from the floor, but a dismal 3-of-16 behind the three-point line. Zampier, who is shooting 40.8 percent from the field so far this season, accounts for a team-best 17.5 ppg, while Sands adds 10.6 ppg. Between the pair they've made 160-of-200 free-throw attempts, helping the team average 67.1 ppg. Yale is shooting just 29.4 percent from three-point range this season, clearly one of the main reasons the team is having a tough year.

Noruwa Agho registered a double-double for the Lions as he put up 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the team's win over Brown last night at home. Also scoring in double figures was Asenso Ampim with 17 points to go along with six rebounds and three steals before he picked up his fifth foul of the night. Columbia got away with just 3-of-14 shooting beyond the arc and forced the visitors into 16 turnovers. A starter in all but one of the team's 19 games this season, Agho is the lone double-digit scorer with his 17.1 ppg. Not only is he shooting close to 50 percent from the floor overall, his 54.8 percent accuracy from three-point range is simply staggering and has raised the team's overall percentage to 40.1 percent out on the perimeter. However, as good as Agho may be, he alone cannot lift Columbia beyond its 62.6 ppg at the moment.

Making the quick turnaround will not be easy for the Bulldogs, and chances are the squad will fail to find success down in New York this evening.
