Indiana (9-12) at Northwestern (15-7)

GAME NOTES: The Northwestern Wildcats welcome the Indiana Hoosiers to Evanston today for a Big Ten affair at Welsh-Ryan Arena this afternoon.

The Wildcats enter the tilt on a winning note, as they posted a 67-52 victory over Michigan on Tuesday. The triumph snapped a two-game slide and pushed Northwestern to 15-7 overall and 4-6 in conference play.

As for the Hoosiers, they gave nationally-ranked Purdue all it could handle on Thursday before falling, 78-75, in the end. It was the third straight loss for Indiana, which is now just 9-12 overall and 3-6 within the conference.

Indiana leads the all-time series with Northwestern, 107-44, but the Wildcats swept the Hoosiers last season for the first time since the 1967-68 campaign.

Verdell Jones III tallied 22 points for the Hoosiers, but his long three-point try at the buzzer was off the mark and Purdue escaped with a 78-75 victory on Thursday. Tom Pritchard tacked on 13 points and five boards for Indiana, while Devan Dumes chipped in with 11 points. For the season, Jones III is averaging 14.3 ppg and he is also grabbing 4.0 rpg and dishing out 3.2 apg. Christian Watford adds 12.2 ppg and a team-best 6.0 rpg for Indiana, which is netting 69.8 ppg as a team this season.

The Wildcats shot an efficient 54.3 percent from the field, including a 10- of-20 effort from long distance, as they took care of Michigan earlier in the week. The team also went a perfect 7-of-7 at the foul line, in addition to holding a 30-27 edge on the glass. Drew Crawford led the charge with 17 points on 4-of-5 three-pointers, while John Shurna checked in with 15 points and eight rebounds. Shurna tops the roster in both scoring (17.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg). Michael Thompson adds 13.1 ppg and a team-best 4.1 apg to the mix. Crawford contributes with 11.4 ppg and 4.2 rpg for the Wildcats, who are posting 68.8 ppg for the season.

Northwestern has the edge playing this game at home and Shurna and company should be able to handle the Hoosiers today.
