South Florida (15-7) at Notre Dame (16-7)

GAME NOTES: The suddenly hot South Florida Bulls continue their three-game road trip today, as they take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Big East play at the Joyce Center.

The Bulls, who hadn't won more than four conference games since joining the Big East, got off to an 0-4 start to league play this season and appeared headed for another poor finish. However, the team found a spark in recent weeks and has won four straight and five of its last six outings to pull to a level 5-5 within the conference. Making things even more impressive, USF's last two wins have come over Top 20 opponents, including a 72-64 upset at No.7 Georgetown on Wednesday. Now at 15-7 overall, the Bulls are a contender for the NCAA Tournament and appear to finally be making a name for themselves in the Big East.

As for ND, it too enters on a high note, notching an 83-65 victory over Cincinnati on Thursday. It was a much needed win for the Irish, who had dropped four of their past five outings. ND has been especially good at home this season, boasting a 14-2 mark at the Joyce Center.

The Irish lead the head-to-head series with USF, 5-1, and ND has taken each of the past three meetings.

The Bulls shot a blistering 65.2 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes, as they scored 46 second-half points en route to a 72-64 upset of Georgetown on Wednesday. USF, which trailed 35-26 at the half, also outscored the Hoyas, 42-30, in the paint. Dominique Jones continued his assault on the Big East, as he poured in 29 points and ripped down eight caroms. It was yet another outstanding performance by Jones, who has is making an argument to be the Big East Player of the Year after averaging 29.4 ppg and 7.1 rpg over his last nine games. For the season, Jones is turning in 22.4 ppg and 6.2 rpg, to go along with 4.2 apg and 42 steals. Jarrid Famous provides an inside presence for the Bulls and he checks in with 11.3 ppg and a team-high 7.7 rpg.

The Irish knocked down 47.5 percent of their attempts from the floor and 18- of-24 from long distance, as they defeated Cincinnati on Thursday. Luke Harangody led the charge with a double-double of 37 points and 14 rebounds, while Tim Abromaitis had 22 points. It was the 11th double-double of the campaign for Harangody, who is one of the top players in the Big East, averaging 24.8 ppg and 9.9 rpg for the season. Abromaitis, a 48.5 percent three-point shooter, is another scoring threat at 16.9 ppg, while Ben Hansbrough adds 11.7 ppg and 5.2 apg to the mix.

This seemed like an easy win for ND just a few weeks ago, but USF is now a completely different team and tied with the Irish in the Big East standings. Jones should keep things interesting, but in the end, the Irish's potent attack will be too much for the Bulls.
