GAME NOTES: The St. Bonaventure Bonnies and Saint Joseph's Hawks will meet in Philadelphia today for an Atlantic 10 Conference clash. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved due to inclement weather.
Three consecutive losses have dropped the Bonnies to 9-11 overall and 2-5 in A-10 action. Their most recent game took place on Wednesday against Saint Louis and resulted in a heart-breaking 67-65 setback. SBU is 1-8 in true road games and has little reason for confidence today.
Saint Joseph's has achieved great success over the years under Phil Martelli, but this season has been one to forget. The Hawks are just 8-14 overall, and their A-10 record sits at 2-6. They have suffered three consecutive losses, including a 68-58 setback to Richmond at home on Wednesday.
St. Bonaventure topped Saint Joseph's by a score of 68-65 last month, but the Hawks still own a commanding 43-15 advantage in the all-time series.
Both Andrew Nicholson and Jonathan Hall scored 13 points for St. Bonaventure against Saint Louis on Wednesday, while Da'Quan Cook posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Ogo Adegboye and Chris Matthews both netted 11 points for the Bonnies, who earned a 36-27 rebounding advantage and a 12-8 edge in points from the foul line. Unfortunately they also turned the ball over 16 times and permitted the Billikens to shoot 52.9 percent from the floor. It comes as no surprise that Nicholson played fairly well against Saint Louis, as he entered the game as the leading scorer for St. Bonaventure with 16.7 ppg, and he was tops on the boards as well with 7.8 rpg. Nicholson has blocked more shots than the rest of the team combined, and he will have to be accounted for by the Hawks at both ends of the floor today.
Saint Joseph's struggled at the offensive end against Richmond on Wednesday, as the Hawks made good on only 39.6 percent of their field goal attempts and turned the ball over 15 times. They got 13 points from Darrin Govens in the setback, while Carl Jones added 12 points. The Hawks trailed by nine points at intermission and simply couldn't fight their way back in the second half. Through 22 outings, Govens is netting 13.0 ppg to pace Saint Joseph's, but he is more steady than spectacular. Garrett Williamson provides 11.0 ppg and 4.0 apg, and Idris Hilliard is posting 10.6 ppg as the final double-digit scorer on the roster.
In a clash of evenly-matched teams, give a narrow edge to the Hawks based solely on the homecourt advantage. They will start fast and hold off the Bonnies late.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
