Colorado State (14-9) at Air Force (9-13)

GAME NOTES: The Colorado State Rams shoot for just their second true road win of the season tonight, as they drop into Clune Arena to challenge the Air Force Falcons in a Mountain West Conference showdown.

The Rams have had some success of late, winning three of the last four games and two straight, thanks to an 80-64 romp over the Wyoming Cowboys at home on Saturday. With the triumph, CSU moved to an impressive 10-2 in its own building, yet the squad is still only 1-8 playing on an opponent's home floor to this point.

As for the Falcons, since picking up their first MWC win in almost two years a couple weeks back against Wyoming, the squad has again fallen into a pattern of defeat, losing to TCU at home on Saturday by a score of 65-51. The setback was the second in a row and the eighth in nine tries for a program that is last in the MWC standings at 1-8.

The Rams crushed Air Force in the first meeting of the season a month ago with a 70-48 victory at Moby Arena. As a result, the series now favors CSU by a count of 64-30.

The Rams hit almost 60 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half of their meeting with Wyoming and finished the contest at 51 percent overall, not to mention converting a ridiculous 10-of-15 behind the three-point line. Travis Franklin led four players in double figures with his 20 points, followed by Andy Ogide with his double-double consisting of 13 points and 11 boards, while Andre McFarland and Dorian Green posted 11 points apiece. The Rams have been dominant at home this season, outscoring opponents by more than 10 ppg over the course of those 12 contests. Franklin (14.8 ppg), Green (13.4 ppg) and Ogide (10.5 ppg) have led the way in those meetings, but since this upcoming battle is on the road it is important to note that in the team's nine road bouts they have scored just 61.1 ppg and given up 71.9 ppg. Green paces the group in those contests with his 12.3 ppg, but his mere 32.7 percent accuracy from the floor is indicative of the overall effort by the squad at only 39.0 percent away from home.

While it would not have made enough of a difference in the outcome of the game, the fact that the Falcons shot only 6-of-14 at the free-throw line in the loss to TCU at home over the weekend certainly has to be a concern. The squad actually shot better from the floor (.432) than it did at the stripe (.429) and connected on a modest 36.8 percent behind the three-point line. Evan Washington was the top scorer with his 16 points, adding a team-best five rebounds, while Grant Parker chipped in 11 points in the losing effort as well. The return of Parker to the lineup has certainly given the Falcons another option on offense, yet the outcomes continue to be the same for the most part, even as he generates 14.3 ppg and clears better than five and a half rebounds per game for the group. Washington, a 52.4 percent shooter from the floor, posts another 11.8 ppg for a team that is coming up with a paltry 59.7 ppg this season and giving up 63.2 ppg over the course of 22 games.

Even though Parker brings another element to the team when he is on the floor, the fact remains that Air Force just doesn't have the manpower to keep up with most teams in the MWC again this season.
