Tennessee Tech (12-12) at Austin Peay (14-11)

GAME NOTES: Coming off a very disappointing loss over the weekend, the Austin Peay Governors try to change gears and prepare for the arrival of Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee Tech to Dave Aaron Arena.

At Murray State on Saturday, the Governors appeared to be on their way to overtime tied at 63-63, but after scrutinizing a video replay of a buzzer- beating shot by MSU's Isacc Miles the refs awarded the two-point win to the home team. The setback snapped a four-game win streak by APSU which is now just three games over .500 on the season and 8-5 in league action.

With a win tonight, the Govs would assure themselves at least a .500 record in league play for the 17th straight season.

As for the Golden Eagles, they suffered their second straight loss on Saturday when they bowed at Morehead State in an 84-75 final. The defeat makes the team an even 12-12 overall and a game under .500 versus OVC opponents at 6-7.

With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, Austin Peay now leads 67-64 even though the Govs had a four-game win streak against Tech snapped in the first meeting of the season when the Golden Eagles claimed a 94-90 decision in Cookeville in January.

On his way to being named the OVC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, Jud Dillard erupted for 25 points and 12 rebounds, both of which paced the Golden Eagles in their loss to Morehead State over the weekend. Dillard shot 9-of-12 from the floor and added a pair of assists and steals, but was also tabbed for five turnovers in the setback. Frank Davis chipped in 21 points off the bench as he sank an amazing 7-of-9 beyond the arc, while Kevin Murphy added 16 points before fouling out. Murphy stands as the top scorer for the program through 24 games with his 15.3 ppg and has managed to raise his accuracy from the floor in conference outings to almost 50 percent, while also converting 41.7 percent of his three-point tries. Davis (14.6 ppg), as he showed over the weekend, can be dead on from three-point range and is currently one of the best in the entire nation at a staggering 47.9 percent on 146 attempts. As a unit, Tennessee Tech has converted 41.6 percent beyond the arc on the year and 48.2 percent from the floor, numbers that both increase against OVC competition.

Anthony Campbell dropped in a team-best 20 points and cleared eight rebounds for the Governors on Saturday, but his efforts were thwarted in the end by what was determined to be a buzzer-beater by the Racers. Non one else on the team finished with more than eight points, something both Duran Roberson and Wes Channels were able to accomplish. Campbell is currently second on the team in scoring with his 15.5 ppg, while Channels heads the list with his 16.1 ppg, which means between them they account for almost half the unit's 72.2 ppg this season. Channels gets the job done on the perimeter with his 43.0 percent shooting, which is actually better than his 40.5 percent from the floor overall at the moment. Campbell tends to stay close to the rim and as such has made good on 48.1 percent of his field goal chances and is also second on the team with five and a half rebounds per contest as well. However, given that Campbell has hit on 46-of-121 shots behind the three-point line, what that means is that he is a tough matchup for many defenses because of his flexibility.

As long as Campbell and Channels get at least some additional help from the rest of the Governors, this one should turn into a win for the home team.
