Ball State (12-10) at Kent State (17-7)

GAME NOTES: The top team in the East Division of the Mid-American Conference will take the floor this evening, when the Kent State Golden Flashes host the Ball State Cardinals at the M.A.C. Center.

The last time the Cardinals were on the floor the team suffered a 75-70 overtime loss to Akron. The setback snapped Ball State's four-game winning streak, but even with the loss the team is still tied with Central Michigan at 6-4 on top of the west division.

As for the Golden Flashes, their 8-2 league ledger is tops in the MAC. Kent State has won its last seven games, including a 68-63 victory over Central Michigan. KSU has enjoyed plenty of success at home this season, winning nine of its 11 games at the M.A.C. Center.

The Cardinals lead the all-time series against Kent State by a 38-33 margin, but the Golden Flashes have won four straight meetings against BSU, and seven of the last nine matchups.

Producing at the offensive end of the floor has been a problem for Ball State, as the Cardinals come into this matchup netting just 60.5 ppg, behind a 41.9 percent shooting effort. Jarrod Jones is pacing the team with 12.5 ppg and 7.6 rpg, while Jauwan Scaife is contributing 10.0 ppg. The last time the Cardinals were on the floor the team scored 70 points, but still fell to Akron in overtime. Ball State shot 48.3 percent from the floor in the matchup, but finished just 3-of-11 from long range, and only 11-of-19 from the foul line. Jones led the way in the setback with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Randy Davis and Malik Perry tallied 15 points apiece.

The Golden Flashes only scored 68 points in their last matchup, but that was just enough to get them past Central Michigan. Kent State shot a sizzling 58.1 percent from the floor in the matchup and finished 6-of-11 from behind the arc. Justin Greene scored 22 points, while Chris Singletary tallied 19 points, six rebounds and six assists. Greene has been one of the more consistent players on the floor for Kent State this season, as the forward is leading the team with 13.6 ppg and 6.3 rpg. As for Singletary, he is contributing 11.3 ppg on the year, and has dished out a team-high 88 assists.

The Golden Flashes rely heavily on their defensive play, and considering how poorly Ball State has been at the offensive end of the floor, look for Kent State to grab the win at home.
